Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Strange on really as even though we won 3-2 with a last minute winner, the game pissed me off.

At 2-0 up I thought we would go on and beat theme or 5-0. By 30 minutes or so we just started to think we had won the game and just tried to coast. I'll be honest it was boring to watch as well. It's astonishing - still - how that simplest ball of all over the top just rips us apart.

As soon as Calvert-Lewin came on the game completely changed. Our defence made him look even better and I wasn't surprised to see Nunes gift him a goal. He is simply nowhere near good enough to play for us. If he is genuinely the best right back in the club then we have a problem. He might have the odd decent game but he shouldn't be starting. Nunes, Reijnders, Gonzalez offered little. We need to go and bring in some tip class players now, not these cheap "ok" ones. Marmoush is a good player, but he's in the wrong team. I rarely think he will change the game but couldn't do anyway in 5 minutes at the end FFS.

Gvardiols challenge was completely stupid and I have no idea what he tried to do. However Foden saved our blushes with a superb finish.

I genuinely can't see what Pep is doing sometimes. After Newcastle and Leverkusen you'd think our players would be rested. We managed to put in a performance almost identical to this time last year. Haaland was back to his anonymous self again.

I don't know what our game plan is at the moment but if Pep thinks we're going after the treble and we need to ret players, he's mistaken. We need pace and energy to put in a title bid, not backwards shitpassing.

I hope we've got these performances done with now and that we can raise our game. If I'm honest, despite the league position we don't look like title challengers at the minute.

I'm probably just grumpy and over reacting but we seem to be all over the shop this season.
The way we play now and especially the second half was very ordinary and not a stand out anymore.

Nah. It’s really shit. The fact that all teams now do it doesn't make it right. BBC wankers for trying to use it to make it look like it’s just us doing it though, or our fault.......but it’s a shit practice, hate it when teams do it to us. It needs to disappear from the game.

dont think changed tactics just players more battering ram approch in firts half james and Nonto ? were trying to use pace but poor passes made inefective
They absolutely changed tactics to two big lads up front

It's really not that baffling, I don't know why this is so hard for some people to grasp. Stupid mistakes are not an indictment of the way we played in general.

If we play brilliantly against Real in 10 days, and we've done everything right and are 1-0 up in the 96th minute, and then in the last 30 seconds one individual fucks up and it finishes 1-1, does that mean that the rest of our performance is forgotten and all the other players have been shite?

It's an insane way of thinking about team performance if one player can literally alter your opinion of all the others in the team.

We are a good team that is clearly better than at least 18 other teams in the league by virtue of results. If Nunes hadn't made that mistake yesterday, Leeds would have done exactly nothing (as evidenced by the fact they weren't capable of crafting anything themselves), we would have cruised to victory and we wouldn't even be discussing this.

My point is that my opinion of this team is not impacted by Nunes' personal error. And for the record, I think Nunes has been brilliant this year, so I'm gonna give him a pass on this one.
But it wasn't 1 mistake after 96 mins against Real Madrid.

2nd half was awful, mistakes were the catalyst and they were numerous in number. Not to mention other major issues which were once again laid bare.

But if you want to pretend we played well 2nd half then by all means.

As for Nunes about 5 minutes after the first goal he jumped into another tackle and got skinned but that is seemingly forgotten. The only reason people think he has been brilliant is because the bar for him is through the floor. He's done an ok job for a very limited player.

I thought we were ok/good for large periods, but that 30 mins of dross was quite damaging on multiple levels. That sort of stuff has to stop.

Doku made plenty, and first half we should have been out of sight.

Apparently keepers wasting a bit of time now needs a rule change.

I wonder why this hasn't been a thing for the past 5 years when teams have used such tactics against us...

Looked like the Erling of last season his shoulders down played too much football in as short space of time needs a break Pep fucking up on Tuesday meant he had to come on
Numerous times he was looking for the ball through or over the top and whoever was on the ball was totally unaware and passed it sideways. Not surprised he looked frustrated or fed up.

What really pisses me off, and I’m sorry to repeat it, is at the time of the greatest time in our history, when the time was ripe to reward our legacy fans with low prices and to bring in the next generation, we’ve gone all out to alienate the legacy fan base, and to not allow new season tickets for the younger fan ban base. We had the chance to keep the legacy fans happy and bringing a new generation, and we fucked it all off for the tourist dollar. Khaldoon, Soriano, Wilson hang your fucking heads in shame, you’ve ripped the soul out of our club you despicable toads. Enjoy your stadium full of half and half tourists, with no atmosphere and no soul.

interesting comments from Foden.

Essentially, some players pressing, some not.

Poor positioning.

Shows on the pitch in most games.

Begs the question, what is going on in training? Took pep to pull them aside to explain what they are supposed to be doing.

Goes back to poor recruitment.
