Left back who can defend - best in the world

[Enjoying being a Blue]

The trend seems to be to have full backs that can attack. Whilst I agree this adds to a team's threat I would prefer to have full backs who can defend. If we could find a left footed Zabaleta then I think this would strengthen our team and help when we take on the more physical teams.

Any ideas as to who may be out there?

Coentrao- he is excellent 1 on 1 but his positioning is sometimes suspect. 19m
Baines- solid defender but we'll overpay. 20+m
Marcelo- Would love him but Real won't sell. 25m minimum


Ranked from most to least available. Wouldn't bother with anyone else.

I don't think he is horrible but to list him in a thread of "left backs who can defend - BEST in the world" is a bit much... and I would be pissed if we spent 15m on him too, no offense. :)

Should put "Left back who can defend and attack" instead. If you called those inaccurate crosses/balloon shots from Kolarov as good attacking play, I despair.... ;)
