I’d like to see us go stronger than the team I posted tbh, and hopefully the 11 point gap will give us a bit of flexibility in terms of the team we choose. Whether you like it or not though, the Carabao Cup is obviously not a priority for the club.
As much as I would like to see many players rested, its now at a stage where, the players and staff can start to think about winning it. We as supporters, see this as the least important competition to win. However this now should be given the respect it deserves, especially given the teams still involved at this point. Let’s win this cup! Win as many trophies as we can, while we can! Make changes, but not wholesale changes to the detriment of the team.

i though that at the time one of his parents had passed away.

Fair enough it may well be a family death and like all players if that is so he will be given as much time as possible to be away from the club.

I would think its reasonable to assume he has told Pep not to say anything outside what he has already but I am sure he will be asked again today given he is very private.

Even bluewhit who would know for sure has not been on the forum to say anything and won't until DS decides to go public with it either himself or gives his permission for the club to let those concerned that are not in the loop like us know.

It is a private matter David and his family and hope that he has all the time to pass what could be a troubling time. Feel that the club will give him all the time he needs and wouldn't it be great if we could have a minutes applause on 21 minutes at home against Bournemouth,

Yes I want to win every game but a semi final double leg in January will test us to the limit physically. We generally lose an important player in these games as well. I would be very happy to see the Rags and Chelsi kick the crap out of each other while we are at home resting for the next three points or FA cup game.
KDBs injury in the semi of this competition in 2016 cost us the title that year.

Want to win the game but not at the expense of any minutes for any important players. If we can field a team and rest everyone and still win, and field the same team in January for both legs, then fine, otherwise, i'd quite happily take a defeat.

We don't have a big enough squad, or depth in certain key areas, to take the risk. Let United have this one and let them sit there in May and call it success.

I never felt it was right to disrespect this competition but, you have to prioritise now.

Bravo, Duhaney, Tosin, Mangala, Danilo, Yaya, Foden, Gundogan, B Silva, Jesus, Diaz.

I'd only play Gundogan and Jesus because IG needs minutes, and Jesus needs a goal.

Lets hope he is playing Saturday which all things considered is what David was born to do and would want to do for all that are close to him and his legion of fans throughout the world.

For those that mentioned about yellow cards & suspensions.

Fern, Sane & Vinny are all on 4 yellow cards. if they get a yellow card against Leicester or Bournemouth then they will get a one match ban. The cut off is 19 league games, after that if you get 10 yellow cards before or on 32nd league game you get a 2 game ban.

I don't see why it's ridiculous. Pep started a strong 11 for a game that meant literally nothing away at Shakhtar. This is a winnable game in a very winnable cup, and although fans see the LC as a joke/throwaway, I highly doubt that the players and coaches do.

After this game, the Christmas run in is Bournemouth, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Watford. So, 3 teams at or around the relegation zone, and then Watford who have won 1 game since mid-October. This is the toughest test we'll face in a while so I don't think Pep will feel any pressure to rest players to save them for the games mentioned above.

I'll happily eat my own words if we play a severely weakened 11 on Tuesday, but I don't see it happening. It may be weaker than I predicted but I don't see Pep rotating in 6-7 players as you mentioned above.

Well the manager knows better than we do about the physical condition of players but surely there must be significant changes given the lack of cover in some key positions and 4 league games in ten days coming up. Also I think this year it will not be easy to win this cup as it is likely that there would be a two leg Semi and a final against top 4 teams. Last year the rags had it easy as we did a few years back I seem to recall a stroll against West Ham. I think a very strong case can be made for putting this at the very bottom of our shopping list and instead concentrating on the league and FA Cup.
