I hated the vitriol directed at Edgy, it was bound to affect his confidence. Saw him at the driving range in Bardsley (Oldham) now and again, quiet and unassuming lad, he didn't deserve that shit.

… Have a look at how often he’s out of position when we concede, have a look how often his passes are non-progressive, have a look at the times he gives the ball away, have a look at how often he gets outmuscled in 50/50s, have a look at how often he scores, have a look at how often he’s a passenger in midfield, have a look at how slow he is in the sprint.

Just to be clear I’m not necessarily talking about just about today’s game.

Happy with the win and 3 points. We were far from convincing and the ease Leicester cut through our midfield (as loads of teams do against us) shows we still have a long way to go.

But heeh hooh, we are unbeaten for two games, on a run now. Confidence will grow with positive results.

A relief to win today (just the one silly giveaway from Gvardiol this time,) with some good performances but our lack of running power and energy was apparent again in the 2nd half particularly. Something that must start to be addressed in January. Nevertheless Kovacic had a good game and Bernardo supported him well but we need more that have the same energy. Savinho man of the match for me, and well pleased for McAtee. Hopefully he will get more chances now.

So how does ot work with squad numbers, I take it we have a smaller squad so any additions won’t make a difference in who we name, but say we get three do have to drop 3 or is there space?

We currently have 2 "open/free" spots available from the 17 permitted so we can add 2 players of any status without issue. Homegrown is full and club trained obviously doesn't come into it with potential new signings. We could remove rodri from the list for the season as he isn't going to be back to play any part which would make room for a third with no real issue if we have that many lined up.

For the CL, should we actually qualify for the next phase which is currently in doubt, the squad can be amended mid season with a maximum of 3 changes/additions so that's the limitation we'll likely be working to and why any more than a maximum of 3 signings is highly unlikely. We could make more signings in theory but we'd have to sell players first to register them and some would have to miss out on CL registration.
