Leicester City (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

A bit of a non event as a contest on a bloody bitterly cold night. Lulled into a false sense of security by the sun and optimistic forecast I didn't wrap up as well as I should have and certainly regretted it.

Missed the first goal as I was taking part in the protest ( Well done to
all those willing to make a stand and a difference.)

In all honesty we could have all gone home at half time as the second half was just a training exercise. At least we comfortably kept and moved the ball well, something we don't seem to have done for ages. We desperately need wingers who can add goals to their game, hopefully Bobb can stay fit and provide that.

It's still going to be tough to.make top five and win the fa cup but if we do it will rescue what has been a pretty awful season by the standards we've set recently.

Won the game and got the points, thats about all you can say.

We wasted a huge opportunity to really pad the goal difference there which may come in to play - 2nd half was a compete non-event, and I wonder sometimes if our players realise you are permitted to shoot.

The drop off from Sterling/Sane/Mahrez to Doku and Savinho really noticeable in games like that. Grealish half decent and O'Reilly again impressive. We will need to be miles better on sunday.
And that sums up the performance: We will need to be miles better on Sunday to beat the worst rag team in over 30 years.

Glad we won, but
Just after reading the room, If there is something to moan about, is that fucking referee, what's his name Darren Bent, Bent England?

Fucking awful officiating. Even the ESPN argies were outraged of 2 penalties not given:
- Doku was kicked a metre from their goal, and
- Savinho was almost stripped off his garments, lad's knickers were exposed for all to see, except that England ****, and that lovely blind lass with a yelow flag.

Fuck PiGmol.
Fuck England [*]

[*] I like the sound of it.

I thought at half time that we might go on to score 4 or 5. I was a very easy game but we struggled to create clear chances and were reluctant to shoot. I think Haaland would have plundered a few goals had he played.

We went up 2-0 and didnt fuck it up, thats a plus in my book.

Leicester made no effort to do more, and any attempt to counter got pressed out.

Good progress id say, if not a boring 2nd half, but up 2-0, we didnt need to be risky.
It would of been very difficult to f-ck things up against that shower of shite.
Hard to judge us last night against the worse team in the prem.
Buzzing for Jack and Oscar Bobb Bobb Bobb. CTID

It was hard work, thankfully I was working tonight, so couldn't make the 340 mile round trip.

Nice to see Oscar back, Jack have a resonable game, Gundogan control a game in midfield, and Ederson have a couple of touches near the end.

Was Leicester xG negative ? It should have been.
Yeah, I had footy training so I was unable to make the 30,000km round trip

That second half was dire. Both sides wanted anything but to be playing football for the entire second half. Leicester I get, they're down, the fight has gone but we've got a champions league spot to salvage, the game wasn't guaranteed given our ability to capitulate this season and even if it was, goal difference could play a part yet we showed no desire to score a goal second half and led to an awful watch. Remember when we used to score 4/5 against this kind of team in second gear?
I was spared the ordeal of watching the game because I am not in the UK.
It seems as though the game was done and dusted at half time and the 2nd half was between 2 teams who had settled for the scoreline.
Perhaps the kick off should have been taken for the 2nd half and both teams walked off the pitch into the dressing room leaving others to entertain the fans for 40+ minutes. Rather than endure the visual equivalent of watching the grass grow.
Moonchester and Moonbeam to the rescue!

OMFG! How on earth could any Leicester fan at the Etihad last night not be sending their club an invoice for the cost of traveling to watch that shite on a Weds nite?!

That might be thd worst team I have seen in a long time. Went 1-0 down in 2 mins, still 11 man defence. 2-0 down after half an hour, still 11 man defence on 90 minutes!

Van Nistelrooy is stealing a living, as are half of his players. They will struggle in the Championship next season and if that is their level I’ll be glad they’re not in the mix to find straight back up.

Barring the rags lowly league position and arse faĺling by the wayside, you are right, it has been a poor season.
The PL has been very stop/start this season due to the new format chumps league and the crappy international break.
Oh for the time when the Nations league and the (just about tolerable) Euros didn't exist.
All these interruptions have led to injuries and inconsistent form at PL level imo.

A good three points, a clean sheet, and all without Phil, Erling and Kev.
Leicester were not competitive, and soured the contest as a result, low-blocking their way to inevitable defeat. I don't want to kick them when they are down but they were dire and offered very little. As a consequence, it is hard to judge any of our players from that match, but I thought that Nico Gonzalez, Gundo, Jack, Matheus, and Omar were the standouts, with the first offering a constantly moving presence into space. O'Reilly looked more than competent, especially in his first touch to receive the pass, but he also made a couple of errors that could have been punished by a better, more ambitious side; Josko, the same.
Great to see Oscar back, and we all have high hopes for him. It is clear that Pep does too, but he did temper fan expectations at the number of minutes that may be available.

How many times over the years have we seen ex rag players given the opportunity to manage ….and fail miserably.

Usually a poor team has one or two players who impress you and should be playing for a better team. Not one Leicester player stood out they were absolutely dire. That is why I can not get enthusiastic about the game as it was bloody awful.

We still are probably sixth (as newcastle and chelsea has played one game less). We have to go on a winning run to stay in top 4. Aston villa and brighton are in a mix as well.
We have to be serious now.
