It's not "plenty" though its 4 from 14, and since they were "away" I'm not sure 2-3000 at southampton or chelsea would have made a significant difference, FAC and Lyon perhaps, but in normal circumstance Lyon would have been 2 legged anyway, so who knows how that would have panned out.Still plenty of occassions where the boost would of helped. This season is unlike any other before. Players are still really in pre season given the preparation so far. So yes there is a valid reason.When was the last time someone put 5 past us at home? No excuse. We have gone to rat shit and are a million miles away from the side we were. No pace no power no grit.

Hopefully never see Garcia again, he's not a PL centre half. Better suited to strolling around in Spain or Italy with only two or three decent opponents a season. Laporte was on the bench, hopefully he's starting next game.

This Diaz fella is coming at the right time then. All the reports state he's an out and out leader and he looks pretty decent from his highlights. Can only be a plus.
I’ve been critical of Mendy’s performances since he signed, injuries aside he’s been given too much leeway. He’s far too lax, he seems to almost find it funny when he fucks up. His attitude is shite and because of this I doubt he’ll ever be the player he was before we bought him.
I’d be delighted if he fucked off this week and we went through another season without a specialist left back. Cancelo, Zinchy and Ake may not play there regularly but at least the seem switched on and will respond to digging in a bit.
People say his crossing is immense, but apart from early on in his city career, I’ve not seen it with any consistency. the opposite in fact, time and time again last season he’s putting in overcooked balls with little direction. And it doesn’t matter if he’s looking for the back post or a blueshirt 8yards away, his weight of pass is never right.
His rhythm never seems to match the game being played.
He’s not at the level for me. Give me a Kolarov Shaped hole LB any day. At least he could play with a bit of pride and grit.
His lack of drive and passion and concentration embodies everything wrong at the back since Vincent left. And the gaps were visible while Vinny was here injured, we’d be waiting for him to come back and hope he’d be able to sort it. Long after he’d been written off by a lot on here, Vinny came back time after time and dragged the level up. Think back to League cup final v Arsenal, Vinny came back went on a decent run and played the big games til the end of that season.
We haven’t replaced or reinforced this mentality this leadership that Vinny brought, the fear he put into opposition and the respect he’d earn. Mendy is soft as shite. He’s not capable and time again we get done down our left. I feel he makes it too easy.
