Leicester (N) - Community Shield | Post-Match Thread

Everyone knew the players that are not back in training , everyone , they have to get rest, the season is ten months long ffs
I know this just pointing out that other teams have a different approach. Not suggesting our approach is wrong putting it up for debate.
It is a forum and people can have differing opinions you know.

It has worked perfectly well before , you just like complaining ,people went to wembly knowing who was back

You won't believe me, other people didn't too.

But last season once we got our act together in December our goalscoring numbers were pretty much on par with other seasons before it.
Of course I'll believe it if it's true. But the season is 38 games and we benefited from the rags and dippers having hilarious mid-season collapses. I doubt 86 points will win the PL in coming season though I'll be delighted if we win it irrespective of the points. I'm not saying we should be breaking 100 points every season but more than 86 would be nice.

Well yeah I agree. But the start of last season was anomalous. It's extremely unlikely that even with a slow start we'd take 13 games to get up and running.

A costly start could affect us for the worst sure, but if we play like we did the bulk of last season then goals aren't going to be a huge issue.

There's room to improve and I'm hopeful of it. Grealish and possibly Kane could help take our attack to a new level, that would definitely help our chances!

Disappointed to miss out on a trophy and I do consider it a trophy. Easier to make the claim when we've lost.
Shame that Delap has been injured for pre-season. I've had him pencilled in for this game since June but that wasn't to be and he's actually been a big miss throughout pre-season. Have we no other strikers in the academy? If we're going down that path with Kane or whoever, it's not like city to be failing to recruit for a succession. I think some are being hard on Torres. He wasn't ready for this game but he's improving for us and for Spain. Mahrez is my biggest concern, he's been ok in cameos in the other matches but really looked off yesterday. Ake is struggling for confidence, his city career is on the line and I think he's a good player but he city demands are high, perhaps too high for him. Mendy would do well to look like he didn't view it all as a laugh.
Thought we were good in patches and Edozie offered a lot. We were worth a goal in 2nd half.
You get the impression that the other players are annoyed by Mendy on and off the field. I noticed a couple of times yesterday he came up to Gundo and Mahrez joking about something just before they took important free kicks and they appeared to brush him off. He just doesn't have the discipline to be an elite level player.
Mendy didn't play that badly yesterday (at least going forward) but I suspect the squad would perform better if he was sold. Any chance he had was ruined by his injuries and City are just wasting everyone's time by keeping him there.

Sorry mate, it will be entirely different at Spuds next weekend. I happen to think that our away support is second to none.

Every time we go to Wembley we have similar threads. Yes, pissed up dickheads on parade, so what? At least they went to support the team. It's a day out, with their mates, having a few sherberts. Spicy language, bit loud, pissed up....its a footy match. Christ on a bike.

Shock, horror, football fans slag off players. Been happening for decades, at EVERY club. I was near the Leicester fans in 501 and they were giving dogs abuse to some of their players. And guess what? Plenty of pissed up dickheads on parade in their end as well.

We have enough detractors without calling our own fans out. We are no different to any other fans in the country.

(and I'm a 50+ cantankerous old git before anyone asks)..
As I said there are more dickheads at Wembley cos we get more tickets, but also as I said calling your own players useless fucking cunts, or shouting get the fucking **** off for Jack at a young player (or indeed ant City player) is shithouse behaviour. I completely agree it’s not the majority doing it but it’s an unhealthy minority. I am an even more 60+ cantankerous old git. I can’t speak for other clubs cos I only watch City, but is has definitely got worse at City over the years, possibly in line with our success. Different opinions.

Our COVID passes were checked at the bottom of the stairs heading up. That must have been about 4:30pm. Worked pretty well in all honesty.
Twice around the same time. Once at the perimeter leading to the turnstyles then actually at the turnstyle. Must have been the only steward checking COVID passes as well as tickets causing all sorts of hassles and delays in our queue where as those adjacent and further along went through smoothly as it was accepted they had been checked by the perimeter cordon of stewards.
