The 'community shield' isn't the final of anything...Apart from the Carabao Cup final wins, I’m starting to get fed up with semi-final and final defeats. Arsenal, Chelsea, Chelsea, and now Leicester.
I appreciate nothing is given in semi-finals and finals, and there are many factors that effect those games like team selection, team and player performances, luck, etc. But I can’t but think we’ve thrown away some of those possible trophy winning opportunities.

Just making a point that it's a long way to travel and pay a lot of money for people at the moment.We also played a longer season than the Rags mate. I think the cumulative effect of that needs to be weighed up too.
I'd far rather our players get good rest and recovery, ahead of playing in a glorified friendly. You may feel short changed, but I daresay it's for the end goal of the club being able to compete on multiple fronts for higher honours.
all a matter of opinion mate, but there is a player in there with torres, for a 21year old in his first season in a new country i thought he was exceptional at times(he was poor yesterday but i'll forgive him that) this season will be big for him.Then that league is slowing down faster than I thought ;)

mendy i agree he's a busted flush, me and my lads always laugh when he's on the ball expecting the next power pass at 100 mph, he just doesn't have the ball retention and control required for a pep team

Yet Sterling, Walker and Stones nowhere to be seen for us. Yes I get that our lads may arguably have had more minutes in the Euros but I doubt their will be much difference in the stats.
Think it's pretty poor to be honest given the expense of going to London for our fans and the traffic shit of the M6.
I think we short changed our fans a bit yesterday too be honest.

I definitely get that, and it's a great effort by our committed fans again under these conditions.
Have to have some perspective here though - fans are spending huge amounts and travelling throughout the season. These players have detailed and planned rest and recovery periods, that are crucial to their continued success.
We'd be robbing the fans far more if we're jeopardising that, for the sake of what is ultimately one pre-season friendly.
Obviously I'd rather have won the game than not but find it impossible to read too much into it in regards going forward.
It was just another fitness exercise for most and a case of getting minutes in legs.
I'm not as concerned about Ake as some seem to be but then I don't expect to see him in any capacity other than giving much needed rest to one of the three main CBs when it comes to lesser games.
The bar I watched it in was showing the Lions at the same time and there were fucking loads more in for that being noisy cunts so found myself distracted for large parts of the city game which tells me how low on the giveashitometer it was.
Looking forward to the real deal next week.

Torres not quick? He was clocked 6th or 8th fastest player in La Liga in his last season there.
I've seen that stat before and I'm genuinely as bemused by it now as I was then. He's not slow that's for sure, but I've seen nothing to suggest that he has a change of gear whatsoever so far. Invisible again yesterday from start to finish

I'd honestly take Tammy Abraham as a cut price alternative if we can't get Kane. I just don't think we'll get away with false 9's every week next seasonThe success last season masked our lack of goals. We won the league but our goals scored figure was below our average for the past ten seasons. I think it was the lowest of our five recent title wins. We need a striker; preferably that Argentinian who seems pissed off five minutes after joining Barcelona, or Haaland, but Kane will do if we don't get shafted by Levy.
Bad day at the office. Thought Ake played well until the mistake. Nothing to worry about imo.

I hate to say this but we have more and more absolute arseholes supporting us. There were 2 “lads” sat behind us and after about 20 mins 4 or 5 of their pissed up mates came and stood with them. Constant abuse of our players, including “fucking useless **** Mendy”, “get that fucking **** (Edozie) off for Jack”, “fuck off back to Spain you useless prick” (to Torres), constant abuse of nearly every player. One of them kept standing half in my eldest son’s space (and my son begged me not to say anything - about 35 mins in he staggered off, presbyopia the bar so I followed him and had a quiet word about not upsetting my son again and fortunately he didn’t come back after that, probably too pissed or coked up), but the constant abuse of the players from the others carried on the whole match. I expect bad language at matches but the constant abuse of our own players? My 15 year old said to me “dad I don’t mind the swearing but why are they being bad to our own players? They aren’t City fans”. I told him that unfortunately they are, and this kind of entitled behaviour is becoming more and more normal. People in their 20’s (my estimate of their ages and combined IQ’s) should be enthusiastic, they were when I was (and we were shit then), and at least I can look at my kids and know for a fact that as badly behaved as they are a lot of the time they will never slag off and abuse their own play. Sorry to go on but I found the entire thing sad and pathetic, and I bet there were weird twats like this all over our support yesterday. The matchday threads in here tend to confirm this.

It's disappointing when our 'supporters' barrack our own players.
A slight error and it's, "So and so is sh1t", or, "He's useless, gerrimoff!"
I thought that for a mix and match team we played very well and created some fairly good chances.
Nothing was riding on that game, just a run out for some and a chance to impress for others.
(I was impressed with Palmer.)
Ake played well and even the much maligned Mendy was fine.
I don't know how some of the new breed of 'supporter' would have coped in the days of Luton, the Swales era , or even, more recently, when we were getting spanked by the likes of Arse, dips and Evilton.
Those days are long behind us thankfully.
City, ickle Citeh, are the Champions of England.
Get behind them ffs!

Torres was playing yesterday ?? I never noticedI have seen nothing from Ake to suggest he is anywhere near good enough for us on so many levels.
He can only play left side of the pairing and still can't pass wide of himself.
He's slow, positionally poor, and the game at Newcastle last season gave me concerns.
We will drop a major bollock allowing Laporte to leave instead of Ake, who was only ever bought because the club thought Stones would be leaving and Dias would be the right side of a Laporte pairing.
The third centre back and the continued reliance on Fern's legs could cost us dear.
I know he is young, has time, his advocates, but I also see little in Torres?
He's not quick, he doesn't beat a man with trickery, we initially bought him as a winger, but even down the middle, you forget he is even on the pitch in the large majority of games.
Perhaps diplomatic for me to just say not my cup of tea and think people possibly overly optimistic he can be relied upon to be a back up striker, because he can't cut it out wide?

on a separate note I did like the look of Endozie. If he has the pace of Sane he could be a very useful player. We lack a bit of that on our team. In yesterday’s game when Mahrez was through on 1 to the keeper his pace let him down. That should have been 1 nil to us.
