Leicester post match thread

Spot on.

Pep must learn to win ugly if neccessary cos we can out football/play everyone.

Pragmatism has a place when the chips are down.

We did nothing yesterday we dont do every game so to suggest we won ugly because we where suddenly pragmatic is nonsense imo.

"...there were several times when we went to break on them & either played the wrong ball or lost possession...."

I must have blinked when those incidents were on MotD.
Did MotD show fuck all I take it?

Jesus fucking up to Sterling and Sane to Aguero were both gilt edged chances we should have scored from.

And Navas with a whole half and open net.

Interesting then that Conte can inherit a team that finished well off the pace and City. Start the season badly and then find a system with the players available to him that works and wins the Premiership with ease. And we need how many more windows?

Conte inherited a team at there peak this season the players stopped playing for the boring one plus less games for him to work with the players. Pellegrini won the double under even harder conditions. Lets see how he does next season

Yesterday was the story of the season, should have been out of sight but almost managed to throw away two points. We got lucky with their penalty but we were due some luck. Glad to come away with the points & think we deserved it.

Spot on. The 'fairytale' love-in last season made me wanna throw up. Not to mention the way that the spineless twats downed tools on Ranieri and got him the sack, then reverted to the form (and tactics) of last season. As far as I'm concerned they can take their happy clapper bits of cardboard, shove 'em up each others arses and fuck off back to league one where they belong.
I like this post.

People who say that don't think.

I think next season depends on the transfer window. I agree it will still be transitional, which is why 3 years is too short a contract, but with Jesus fit & a few signings, this team could still become pretty hard to stop, even with flaws.
And yours is the sensible view to take mate and one I fully agree with.

Without saying it, I think think the club have the same feeling too. Pep has constantly said that our immediate competitors have had decades to implement their winning, big team mentality when City have barely had 9 years.

Of course none of us would turn down immediate success, but what Pep, Soriano and Txiki have been brought here to do is much, much more than that. They're here to change the very fabric of our club, from the infrastructure, to the youth policy, up the our playing philosophy and to nurture and bring in the players needed to achieve this.

Sadly some of us fail to take our steady progress this season as a sign we're on track with our long term plan. I can see what we're planning a mile off, and it won't be the first time my view has been at odds with some who can't connect the dots and make sense of where we'll end up. :-)

Very frustrating to really dominate first half, play some good stuff then panic when they score that wonder goal.thought it would be a palace game at 2-0.still would love to see Jesus on wing for sterling and use aguero, not sold on sterling.

I agree that next season will still have a transitional element to it but if Pep is the guy I think he is, every season he is here will see some sort of transition in the team as he constantly tries to improve it and move towards his vision of how the game should be played (in the Premier League). With each passing season, we should be closer to the goal and therefore the transitional element will decline. I hope next season will be rather less of a transition than this one but I feel as though there might be one or two big changes to come in how we play and there ought to be several new players to bed in.

Transitional shouldn't mean we can't win things but it complicates things. I thought we would do better this season and I will always believe that if KDB had put us two up against Chelsea, we would at least have made more of a fight of it, as we would if Vinnie and Gundogan had been fit and available; although Gundogan's absence was ameliorated somewhat by Yaya's re-emergence.

I do concur that three years is not going to be a long enough tenure for Pep to do the job and I hope he signs an extension - soon.

We won ugly because the players didn't do what the manager asked them to do in the second half. They got caught in two minds because of the importance of the game and, given the opponents, it ended up ugly.

What Pep will be looking for are more players who can allow him to apply his form of pragmatism, which is keep the ball in your possession in the opponent's half.

Conte inherited the mismanaged former champions, with most of a title team at their peak, Pep inherited a fucking shambles who looked like they trained on pies & Gunness half of whom are in their 30s.

No comparison. Pep has a rebuild to do.

I agree about the Chelsea game & also Aguero had several fairly simple chances & the ref bottled out. That game could have set Chelsea back badly & pushed us up. Maybe Spurs would have been the team to benefit, but I think it turned out a big day.

I think we are potentially one of the favourites for next season & will perform accordingly, but to get where Pep wants us to be, will take longer imo.

If we reach that level, we will have little competition in this league apart from referees.

Pep said we lost our heads in the 2nd half and didn't know whether to attack or defend, did they not listen to what he was telling them to do?

As you said, a lot about next season hinges on transfer activity and not just our own. However, if we have a really good window and Vinnie can stay fit and in-form, I think we have a great base to build on. I know you aren't a big Stones fan but I am and Sergio, Jesus, Sane and Sterling already offer an electric front-line possibilities. Gundogan, KBD, Silva and Dinho all have skills. I fear Yaya will go and leave a big hole to fill but several will leave that can be upgraded more easily.

I do believe Pep can create something that this league has never really seen and, if he does, we might see the sort of dominance that my Cityitis barely allows me to contemplate.

I have no problem with Stones as a young player. I just don't see him as a top defender now.

If he can learn from Vinny, it could be huge for him. If however he has to learn from Otamendi, I think he has a big problem.

There is a lot of exaggeration on here about what Pep inherited. He inherited a team that was good enough to finish in the top 4 albeit with aging f ullbacks. Who have had a lot of games to play this year but many of our poor results this year have not been just aging FBs.
