But we already have an established nr.1 for that position in Clichy. If we bring in another LB it should be someone who knows he'll be nr.2 in the pecking order. Baines would demand to be first choice.

Now that Shaw is unattainable, I hope we go for Ben Davies. Would be an ideal replacement for Alex.

If Baines stays then he deserves a heap of credit. Loyalty is a trait that's lacking today sadly.

True, though bear in mind that at least part of the time when players leave their clubs, it's because the club has told them that they have to leave because the club needs money. Think SWP, and from what I've read I reckon we wouldn't have signed either Navas or Negredo if Sevilla weren't in financial troubles.

He played at Wigan but it was long before Martinez I think.

Edit: just checked and it was Paul Jewell who sold him.

Get a bid in for Baines and Fellaini now. Don't give a shit about the 'snubbed City' headlines. Lets create a false bidding war and watch the Rags panic buy. Baines would be a great signing for them but Fellaini? If Carlsbeg did signings for them.........
