Lending money

I was a money lender with my own company before I retired.

If you’ve lent it to a friend just think how desperate they are to ask you and if they don’t pay you back just think what a hole you’ve let them drag you into. They’ll probably know you’ll tell the world and their dog what a **** they are for promising to pay you their friend back knowing they couldn’t or wouldn’t.

You need to go round to their house and have a face to face. It’s easier for them to avoid you or text or phone you. Fuck them threaten them that you go and see their spouse, friends, parent and other relatives.

It not you that’s the ****, they’ve picked you out as an easy, soft target.

Find out if they are working, what they owe and how they prose to pay you back. You need to agree a day of payment.

There is loads more you need to ask and depending on how much they owe and what questions you ask and the answers to those questions.
I’d politely suggest you NOT lend money, and save yourself the aggro!

Stop shouting in every single post mate. The capital letters make every single post sound loud when you read them and a bit like youre hopping one on leg screaming with passion when you type them. Its a tough read, every single post

EVERY post??

As I’ve said repeatedly, it’s not “shouting,” it’s emphasizing, and how you read it in your head is upto you, but unless you’re reading it out loud, I fail to see (or hear) the “shouting.”

Conversely, if you find it tough sledding, I’d suggest either ignoring me or stiffening up that spine a smidge and fighting through the “toughness” of seeing a single word in capital letters.

Be well.

My first wife lent her cousin a substantial amount that was to be repaid within a few weeks. She was waiting on some invoices being paid for a business she’d just set up.

Anyway, literally three days after she lent her the money, the woman dropped dead.

Has anyone ever lent someone an amount of money and not received it back?
Yeah and it almost destroyed me because when they didn’t pay me back as promised and I approached them in a polite way to try to get back the money they owed me not only did they not pay me back they made out to others that I had somehow wronged them and I felt that not only did I have to try to justify myself to people regarding what had gone on I also felt that I was a really poor judge of character by lending money to someone I thought I could trust and it completely knocked my confidence to the point that I developed trust issues that are with me to this day.
It wasn’t a lot of money either but I felt as though I’d been groomed by someone I completely trusted and lost what I thought was a friend.
On reflection though I now feel stronger than ever and nobody will ever get a penny out of me unless it goes through a solicitor.
Money really is the root of all evil.

Lent to my old work colleague over the period of 3/4 Years, it started off as £20 here and there, pay me back at the end of the Week etc to can I borrow £100 will pay you Monday and it would take weeks and weeks to get back if ever! I ended up just lying to him in the end and saying now I'm Married I have a joint account and it's not just my money to lend so sorry but I can't do it anymore, funnily enough he pretty much stopped speaking to me not long after...

He's now a Manager on about 70k a Year and we met up again last Year with a few of the old work lot for a round of Golf and he is still cadging money even now!

I’ve lent money out and borrowed large amounts of money in the past to buy property amd always paid the money back plus interest
Everyone involved was happy and made good money out of the deals so it doesn’t have to have a negative ending

I suppose it must be first in the list of forum rules for a reason, no? Copied below..

Avoid shouting (i.e. ALL CAPS) in threads and txt spk, as it has a habit of annoying other users.

Sounds like he has some sort of a problem. I have a mate who borrows money from a ' friend ' and this ' friend ' borrows off him, no one except him knows who he /she is, it's a reciprocal thing and they both use it to bet on the GGs. He's never had a pot to piss and really is the meaning of tight even though he used to hold a reasonably well paid position, he's even sold some of his pension and holiday rights ..... it really is embarrasing when we're out and it's time to pay.
