Doubt he'll be that unhappy. Waste of time this transfer, Juventus were never going to sell. If Bonucci was not Italian we may have more chances.

Bit too ambitious this transfer

I agree mate....Looks like Juve really are serious about keeping him at all costs...51mil would have made him the most expensive defender in football....think its safe to say, we'll have to move on but its clear, Pep/Txiki dont want to go into the season with our current set of starting CB's and that pretty clear....I think we should just get Stones signed and hopefully Kompany can stay healthy...

Doubt it very much. Its not always about money. Neymar could have got more €€ at PSG, but decided to stay at Barca for example.

understandably i reckon pep shites himself at the prospect of mangala and otamendi at the back next season

I agree mate....They might be solid defenders in the right system but someone like Mangala should be no where near a Pep's starting 11......we seem to be struggling to find a CB so far this summer!
 
IBH said if the rumour is true that they have rejected the second bid we won't go back in with a third bid for him

Laporte turning us down was a big blow to our plans it seems. Hopefully we get Stones over the line at least.

I agree mate...maybe this will push us to get Stones over the line a little quicker..Would surprise me if they made 2 bids for Bonucci without thinking the player/Club might be open to the move tho?...lets hope we have better luck with Sane/Stones/Peres.... ;)

It's a guessing game. Don't think there are many on here that really knows what is happening.
It's the blind leading the blind. BTW that's not a dig at any ITK's. It's aimed at us general hoi polloi ;-)

Theres a possibility we could get Bonucci and they still sell Pogba for a world record fee. Then its on Real or United as to who will stump up the cash for Pogba; there is a slightly longer shot that we get both Bonucci and Kroos.

On the flip side United could pay that world record fee for Pogba leading to Juventus not wanting to sell anymore leading to us getting neither Bonucci or Kroos.

All speculation of course.

This is the most insane post ever. Gundogan will be fine by late September. Stones and Sane seem a lock to sign. Most would agree. Zabs is almost certainly leaving, as is Yaya. Kolo we sold 2 years ago. Kolarov will go this week.
 
Either this thread and the Pogba thread is full of United fans - or City fans need to grow a pair. Them with Pogba, us without Kroos or Bonucci - we are still streets ahead.
 
When you look at teams above us in the table or who had concede less goals than us last season, you figure out that they don't have better CBs than we do.

Maybe their system is more defensive than ours, but I don't think any team in the League have better set of CBs than we do.

In the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter now that Pep is aboard. Pep's philosophy is to dominate possession and play out from the back and the CB's are a big part of this. Mangala and Otamendi would do 1 of 3 things when put under pressure: 1. Hoof it and give it right back to the opponent. 2. Pass it to Joe who will then in turn hoof it or 3.Give the ball away. That's why Pep is wiling to spend on Stones and Bonucci, because it is is an area that we need the most to play the way he wants to play. That's why he also wants a ball playing keeper.
