You are completely right. Can't see him signing a new contact.

Bonucci is a fan favorite and all but he's been at the club for 6 years and won enough titles. This is great opportunity for him in the footballing as well as the financial sense. He will be playing for the best coach in the world, grow even more as a player and also earn double his current wages.

I'm hoping he decides to come to us. Bonucci is world class and will be worth whatever we pay for him and could play for us for 4 years. If he comes, we will have the best defense in the league and the Etihad could become a fortress once again.

I think it's a tough one but we must be nervous of being played so we will have demanded some commitment from the player and the agent - we are not stupid. Juve would have to break their wage structure to keep him - so not only would they need to give up the €60m we are offering it will cost them 10s of millions more to pay Bonucci and the other senior players within a revised structure over the coming years. I'm not a betting man but I think there grounds for optimism on this one. Juve can (and may) play hard ball but it's gonna cost them.

"all" our targets? None of our targets have actually played us. Laporte wanted to come until Bilbao made him the highest paid player in franchise history. Bonucci was always a long shot.

That's hardly all our targets. We've got the money, the success and the best manager in the world as a carrot and if players don't want that, it's their loss. Nothing like 2009 at all.

Agree let's not over react yet. If Laporte couldn't handle the step up that's fair enough - better to admit it upfront. Rather that than him bottle it later.

Is that CityWatch on twitter LoveCity on here? just curious. does LoveCity still post? not seen his name for a while.

I see the transfer forum has come down with a severe case of the 'Chicken Little's' again..

I'm surprised that pep would sign a central defender anyway? At Barcelona he signed that one dude who was a complete failure and left the club. I wouldn't be surprised to see stones at the club though considering demechi less has left.

Pep is a maniac in terms of perfection. It might be tough for him coming from a club with world class players Neuer, Boateng and Lahm in the defence. Lookin around on the City training pitch will make his mind quite busy I guess.

That's why I am absolutely sure he will want at least one ready world class CB, at least one. Ota is a hard working CB, Vinnie is all about fitness and Mangala is controversial.
Pep for sure wants a CB with a very good opening ability. Similar to Boateng at Bayern. It's a central position for his philosophy. Vinnie could do that but we all know about the uncertainties.

Pep for sure wants to reduce the number of goals conceded overall. That's why I am relaxed about the signing of a very good CB. Just wait...
He is here to proof his style of football in the most competitive league. He knows that he will fail without a 'super super' defence.
