Lescott and Toure.

Barry and SWP banging in the corners.
Toure, Lescott, and Adebayor to head home.

We'll kill from set pieces this year.

They could become a very good pairing indeed! They are both good defenders, ive noticed already that Toure postional sense is better than anything we've had for a while he reads the game well too! Lescott is very quick although he has a very strange running style but big men do dont they!? Both are good from corners, i noticed Toure popped up with a few goals a season at Arsenal running from the edge of the box to the front post and scoring headers on the run! Lescott is dominant in the air in all areas! Also both are confident, competent and comfortable with the ball at their feet with runs forward or they'll stay up after a set piece and will join in on attacks!

Defensively im not sure if either one of them is the John Terry or Vidic style defender which all winning clubs seem to have where they'll dive and stick their head in the way of a shot that's 75-25 in favour of the shooter - basically not scared to get a busted nose to stop a goal! But so maybe one of them will learn and adapt this to their game!

...just thank god we have someone of Elanos quality to deliver those set piece balls in to the box.....

doh!

Elano was occasionally brilliant, but failed to beat the first man more often than not. Barry on the other hand consistently delivers fantastic corners and free kicks.

As for the CB pairing, we have to hope that they do gain an understanding quickly, but it's looking pretty good so far on the goals conceded front!

totally agree they can become 1st class as a partnership, best defender weve got from opposition corners is adebayour he misses nothing in the air the lad is totall class will be one of the greatest signings ever made at this club (IF WE ALL GET BEHIND HIM)?

City have been calamitous in defence for many years, even when having good defenders in the team... Distin and Dunne were prone to moments of madness and with David James behind them there was always a disaster waiting to happen. Now with Toure and Lescott in front of Given it fills you with confidence... Given is one of the best keepers in the world on his day, and on current form he has 'his day' quite frequently... our best keeper since the legendary Tommy Wright!!!!

Is this a joke? Elano's set pieces were mostly shite.

I agree that Given - Touré - Lescott has a lot of potential, but I think you grossly underrate James - Distin - Dunne, which was an excellent foundation for a back four. One of the best in the league, IMO.

Better at defending set pieces
Better at attacking set pieces

This is going to take some getting used to. We scored from a corner.....A CORNER!!!!!!

RIP useless short corners.

On the contrary, I don't underestimate these three players, I concede I was probably being unfair on Dunne... but they have had their moments. David James is always, and always has been, a fantastic athlete and keeper but he is also always, ands always has been, a few seconds away from conceding a needless penalty... and I remember with horror Distin falling over at Loftus Road (think it was against Fulham when they played there a few years back) with no bugger anywhere near him... presenting a clear chance to them... I can't remember if they scored or not.

I think that James was England's no. 1 for the time he was was only down to a lack of other world class keepers in the mould of Shilton, Clemence & Seaman.

At times the three of them, James, Distin and Dunne waere rock solid, but there was always that naging doubt... I don't have that now with Given, Toure and Lescott.

ps. Good luck Dunney at Villa.
