Re: official move for Lescott today...

You sound like you will be happy with deal now DSOB. It looks as though Lescott will be done shortly then. We are not messing about as we wanted all our deals complete by 6th of July when we return for pre season.

Just got this Eto;o stuff to sort out now!

Who are you linked with? It seems we are in the market for a right back, naughton has been linked with us but I cant help but think it was an attempt to turn the screw on yourselves.

I was resigned to losing Lescott when the first reports came out about your interest in both he and Arteta , and took a little stick on our forum about it when I suggested it might be a good idea .
The price I had in mind was about £20-25 mill , so I wasn't too far away ( and still might not be ) depending on any clauses .

Am I happier ?
I was kind of hoping we might keep him , and get some investment , but for that money , I don't think anyone can really complain if Moyes uses it well .

Remember it's still only speculation though , and don't get too excited just yet .

On the balance , I would expect both sets of fans to be reasonably happy , obviously depending on the final price ( which I think will be more ) .

Who are we linked with ?

Everybody , but Moyes will be under pressure to bring in quality , so it should be interesting .

M'bia is an apparant possibility .
Naughton I'm not sure about depending on price .
The fans want a Moutinho / Defour type player , and we need to bolster our right side , strike force , defensive mid , and obviously defence .

If we say that Moyes' budget is probably £20mill , then that now gives him £40 mill approx .

That would make Moyes a very dangerous animal indeed providing he got it to spend .

I expect a lot of defensive players to be associated with us once again , especially after Jacobs leaving .

I still think he might stay though ;o)

Thats a lot of positions to fill.

I agree that Moyes will do well with that money, he will probably unearth a couple of gems. You appear to be a well run club and any money you get in will probably be reinvested.

As for Lescott, well he will be filling a gap here. I like him and he will add another dimension to our team from set pieces. Defensively im not so sure but if he plays alongside Bridge with Barry in front of him then the left hand side of our defense should be far more secure.

He is a good player .
I won't fill you with bitter rants saying he isn't etc , as I'm an honest and fair bloke .

He has / might / now have to live up to his fee though , in a strange team , strange manager , and strange and demanding fans , and there will be big pressure upon him to deliver what is expected of him .
It is now that we will see what he is really made of , especially if he were to stay.

Would Lescott be your answer ?
I would rather have him than Terry and Ferdinand if he reaches his potential so that's a yes .

Do I think you bought the best Everton Defender ?
No , but I believe our defence was as good as any team in the Prem ( we don't have the attack of the big 4 , but we do have the defence ) .
You probably wouldn't have gotten Jags without Everton fans burning your stadium down and hanging Moyes besides the royal blue Mersey lmao .

I STILL THINK HE MIGHT STAY THOUGH :o)

i dont know if you will agree but lescott reminds me off the time ferdinand went from leeds to the rags and what impact he made going there.

i do rate lescott very highly and he may just become a major central defender in the premiership with city as time goes by.

(that's if we get him that is)

Re: official move for Lescott today...

£18 - £20 million is fair given what Johnson went for. I dont think we should let Jo go to them on loan though. It would have been better to sell him to Ful;ham for £8 million.

THere is still a chance he could become a decent player, sendin him on loan for a season with option of a low fee along with £20 million for Lescott is way OTT imo.

Re: official move for Lescott today...

they might be looking for a new manager after this goes through.

Re: lescott

Read this on the comments section of MEN just now;

I cannot confirm if Tevez or Eto'o are coming to City as I, like everyone else is outside looking in. However, I thought I would share with you all a snippet.
Guess who shared my flight back home from Abu Dhabi last night ?. A certain Mark Hughes. And lo and behold who was also spotted ?. Lescott ! hmmm.

Re: lescott

My Brother is a limo driver and he had an ex-Spurs Manager (who knew about Phil Scolari turning down England before the press did). He reckons that Lescott will be a City player within the next 7 days.

Don't know any more than that.
