Toffee Blue, no hard fillings, I mean, feelings, and sorry to gang up on you but chew on this... (I like a pun, Ido).
Reasons for a player like Lescott to join City:
1) No European football in a World Cup year. - True, this can be construed as a negative if you want but, for the purposes of this side of the debate, let's accept that there are some positives to it (i.e. being fresh for the qualifiers and the biggest tournament in the world.
2) A chance to make history. - This is not to be scoffed at. I doubt very much if even the most passionate anti-City person does not accept that City now have an above average chance of (perhaps, eventually) becoming a dominant force in football. Everton have a chance too - a below average one.
3) Opportunity to play with world class players in a UEFA top ten ranked stadium.
4) The adulation of the most loyal fans anywhere. - I'm not saying that toffee fans aren't as passionate as any others. I'm saying that (for better or for worse) City fans have over the years been able to prove their unwavering and unstinting loyalty. It is indisputable. At the very least, he'd be no worse of under the admiring eye of the City faithful than he is now.
5) Double yer wages. - Crass? Yup. Vulgar? Yup. Unfair? Hell, yup! But he's a footballer not a clergyman. Why shouldn't he feather his nest?
I have no particular axe to grind with Everton. In fact, if they were taken over by that supposed Dubai group, I'd love it (if only because I live in Ireland and there'd be twice as many bitter, red, glory-hunters moping over their pints down the local) but I can't seriously keep a straight face when you say that the only reason to join City (from Everton, in particular) is money.
