i think its been a reaction to the way a section of the City fans have acted since they got the cash. I think we always saw City as a good old fashioned down to earth club with passionate and "proper" fans.

However since the cash rolled in they've behaved somewhat like a London club crossed with Newcastle United.

Like i said its a section and as i've been on this forum since the Lescott saga kicked off i'm able to see its a minority rather then a majority

I actually take great exception to your comments. Each club has an element of idiots, yours perfectly illustrated this by acting like barbarians in their behaviour towards Robinho at Goodsion. Whilst some sections of City fans have gotten carried away with our situation you will not understand the level of prejudice, abuse and pure hatred directed at the club from all angles since the takeover.

Take a look around the 606 boards, the abuse is boardering on obsession. In fact the whole media spectrum ranging online, printed and TV currrently are reporting pretty much nothing other than news about City. That's not arrogance, but the truth. The world is obsessing over us. Going back to the abuse directed at us, then none other than your very own Everton board is probably the worst offending set of fans. Why is that? Simples, nothing other than jealousy. If the takeover at Evertons goes forward then I for one will be delighted as this will then open up the another two of the North Wests big teams , ourselves and Everton, to the higher reaches of the Premiership. Or at least the possibility of such.

Maybe if the shoe is on the other foot, Evertonians will become a little less holier than thou, as the Portsmouth fans are currently having a 'situation rethink' due to their good fortune.

Great post.

Totally agree with you. Jealousy is a terrible thing. As we are finding out !

Ok i'll go in to why in my opinion there's a lot of bad feeling towards City. I'm only writing this so you can maybe get an idea of the impression maybe other clubs have of you... especially Everton fans. I'm not saying these are my views and I know you'll all jump on me for writing this, but oh well here it goes:

There's a certain way to act when you have a lot of money all of a sudden. Some people win the lottery and buy lots of flash cars, houses and the like. Some people pay off their mortgage and give a bit to family but essentially stay the same.

To the outside world you've become flash gits. Buying Robinho, trying to buy Kaka for £100m, offering him ludicrous wages etc. Money is no object, we will buy who ever we want. If they dont want to come, we'll just buy their soul instead etc etc.

Nobody likes a flash git. Especially if they used to be a similar type of person to you, and now you see them cruising around in a Aston Martin D7 Volante, Rolex sparkling in the sun, porn star sat next to them in the car. That person doesn't even bother to say hello anymore because their "better" then you. Yeah its probably jealousy, but you can't help thinking "what a prick!"

Everton are a humble club, we accept our position in terms of money and not being an elite force these days, but if we did suddenly become rich we'd spend a lot less, build more gradually, and be a lot more subtle about it. Your business plan is the polar opposite to what ours would be in the same situation. Our manager would never buy someone for £100m even if he had it. He'd build a good young team without the need for superstars, or certainly not a team of them. I think thats what irks a lot of our supporters. Maybe we thought your team had the same values as ours, and then all of a sudden your driving past in a amazingly expensive supercar flicking the V's to everyone you used to know.

Like I say i'll get shot down for writing this, i'll definatly get shot down for using such an appaulingly bad annalogy.

Also the thoughts above aren't necessarily my own opinion, more what I feel the outside world thinks to some degree.

Your right tho a lot of it probably does stem from jealousy.

How the fuck can you possibly know that? Do you already know who your mystery buyers might be? If ADUG had bought Everton instead of City, you'd now be following exactly the same path that we now are. And your fans would be behaving in exactly the same way. That, my bin-dipping friend, is a factazoid.

so in other words we shoudnt spend the money.....just like everton wouldnt if they were in our position!! and you as a fan would be happy with your club being the richest in the world but not buying any quality players because that would be "flash".

Well if we did then Moyes would walk out sooner the you can say "lets buy kaka". Maybe then we would follow that path, but not with Moyes at the helm.

Bin Dipping friend? Can you really put the word friend on the end of an insult?

Don't think you should get shot down TA and if you do ignore them. Just keyboard warriors.

Agree with much of what you have to say and can easily understand where you are coming from.

If i had to disagree it would be that your philosophy would be to build slowly etc. Maybe under current ownership/manager yes but this is impossible to state how it would go with new owners.

Would they want to allow you the time to build, would they want bold statements made, crucially would they want Moyes (and am not for one minute advocating getting rid).

All these factors could change.

ABSOLUTE BOLLOCKS,

YOUR MISSING THE POINT (thought i'd write in capitals seeing as you did). We'd buy young talented players (Moutinho would be a good example). Players that are massively talented, young and hungry for success. We would spend money obviously, i didnt say we wouldn't, but there's a different path you can take other then identifying the 11 best players in the world and trying to buy them all.

good post mate.
but the part where you said that if you were taken over you would try to build more slowly and not flash the cash as much is bollocks im afraid.
the likelyhood is that if our owners had chosen everton, robinho would now be an everton player.
and you say that your manager would never buy someone for 100m?
how do you know this?
has he ever had that much to spend ? NO.
so how are you qualified to say what he would do if he had mega money ?

Generally a good post.

With respect thou, the bit about what you would do if you came into that money is pretty much bull shit I'm afraid. Think you would find yourself going down exactly the same route as we are doing. You really think you would want to sit and slowly build over the course of several seasons while you know you have the money in the bank to at least try and give the fans the success that they have been craving for these years?

Granted, you would be coming from further back than us interms of having to build a new ground which could mean that the outlay on new players wouldn't necessarily as high. But you honestly believe that if the owners went to Moyes and asked who in the world he wanted to sign that he would say "It's okay, I'm happy with my lot at the moment". I very much doubt it, he'd have a list of multi million pound players in an instant.

I must admit I was embarrassed by the whole Kaka saga, and maybe starting to get a little embarrassed by the JT affair (although chelsea are far from blameless with their leaking of the offer) but baring that I think we have been building in a sensible way, we have gone for proven premiership players that Hughes has identified that have greatly strengthened our squad and given us the options that were so greatly lacking last year.

I uphold the arguement about waving vast offers of wages about, but then its only what every other top four team has done over the years, and no doubt what you would do in the same position. Think the sooner people realise that footballers are professionals that play for MONEY the better. It's there job to play football and so the badge on the shirt no longer applies so much as before
