I know people find it hard to believe but I really think Moyes wouldn't spend the cash like City have if he had it.

Moyes has built slowly at Everton, created a great atmosphere in the camp, brought through young players and improved them no end. Its not in Moyes make up to buy a player like robinho.

Moyes would identify the best players in the world under the age of say 23 and buy them, mould them in to his vision and build a team like that.

New owners might not like this and want those big name signings, therefore sack moyes and bring in someone more high profile.

I disagree I dont know what Moyes would do, or at least have a good idea. I've watched the man closely ever since he took over, I understand his values and his aims. Whether those would sit well with a trillionaire owner i can't say tho.

You seem to be massively blinkered. Moyes has built the team that way because he has had to, not by choice and he has done a fucking good job in doing so.

If Everton had money do you really think Moyes would be taking Jo on loan?

No I think he'd have bought Marcus Berg instead. Another young and highly talented player he could have moulded in to his vision

Agree with much of what you have to say and can easily understand where you are coming from.

If i had to disagree it would be that your philosophy would be to build slowly etc. Maybe under current ownership/manager yes but this is impossible to state how it would go with new owners.

Would they want to allow you the time to build, would they want bold statements made, crucially would they want Moyes (and am not for one minute advocating getting rid).

All these factors could change.

You make a good point about how building slowly would go down with new owners. maybe because we're in the top 5 already our building could just be a couple of excellent players a year and we'd be pushing for the top 4, whereas City maybe don't have that luxury as they started from a lower position.

Its interesting you mention Moyes as its definately one of our fears if we did get taken over. Moyes is everything to us at the moment, and we believe with money he'd be the best person to take us to the next level. I'd hate for us to get taken over, lose moyes and then finish lower as a result.

I think you should think about how roman took aver chelsea, they were in a better position than you are now and they still spend huge and got rid of a respected manager.

You can not predict how owners would use you club or choose how to run it.

We have been very fortunate as our owners seem to think highly of fans and have treated us impeccably, with ticket prices etc.

Everton are a humble club, we accept our position in terms of money and not being an elite force these days, but if we did suddenly become rich we'd spend a lot less, build more gradually, and be a lot more subtle about it. Your business plan is the polar opposite to what ours would be in the same situation. Our manager would never buy someone for £100m even if he had it. He'd build a good young team without the need for superstars, or certainly not a team of them.

Buying no player valued at more than £10m, trawling the lower leagues for bargains?

Why buy into a club solely to let the club just plod on in exactly the same way. No need to invest.

Regarding what I quoted above, you could replace the word 'Everton' with 'City' about 2 years ago.

It sound a bit childish to suggest it is jealousy, but that is what it obviously smacks of. From opposing fans to managers to boardrooms.

Neville Kneville makes a few valid points. It's tiresome getting lectured by holier-than-thou clubs on how they'd do things SO differently. Most of it is bullshit.
Hughes is buying in premiership proven quality to compliment what the academy has already created. Ffs, what else is he supposed to do?

Hughes didn't spend big at Blackburn and arguably operated much like Moyes. But he is now in a different situation with different pressures. Moyes, I would wager, would be no different. Whoever heard of a Manager resigning because the owners of his club gave him too large a Transfer Budget !

Yeah but your failing to point out the bit where I wrote about buying the best players under 23 in the world... As far as I know these players aren't playing in the Coca Cola Championship and cost considerably more then £550k... unless you know something I and every manager doesnt?

I also stated that new owners might not appreciate Moyes' style in the transfer market and bin him for a bigger name.

Tansfer budget doesn't come in to it. If a chairman medled in moyes' team and transfer affairs, or told him how to do his job he'd walk.
