Lescott [Merged]

The most blatant tap up of recent years has to be the scum signing Berbatov - Sky showed him talking to David Gill @ Owe Trafford when Spurs were saying a fee had not been agreed with them and they had not given permission for the Scum to talk to Berbatov. Left with no option Spurs gave in and a fee was agreed which obviously included and agreement that Spurs would not report the Scum for making a public illegal approach. The same will happen with Lescott.

Im saying what if? i dont have aqny proof? you made the statement that you made your approach inline with the Leaguse rules...who do you know?
I once had a drunken conversation with Gordon Taylor (PFA) at a wedding ( i was drunk he wasnt lol) when Nick Barmby had asked to leave for Liverpool and he said all teams tap up players but to different extents, i just wonder if you tried to steamroller us as opposed to a subtler approach who knows ??? No one on here does but yet we are the scum of the earth. I have heard that Lescott was sent home because it came to light he has had the details of his salary at city for a while, but thats only hearsay

When EFC approached PNE for Moyes, do you think he knew of said interest before and knew what they was offering as a potential employer?

When EFC approched Wolves for Lescott, do you think they did it blind with the possibility of Lescott saying no thanks?

I will say now that of course we have spoken to lescott or his agent and of course we have spoke with officials of EFC, that is how EVERY transfer is done.

To suggest otherwise is naive imo.

By the book? Probably not!

Is it the way in football? Yes!

It is funny that we have signed 6 other players this window, from clubs like Villa and Arsenal and bid for the England captain and not one of them clubs has accused us of any wrong doing, not one, in fact Chelsea came out through Kenyon and stated we had done everything by the book!

Your club and manager have had you foor fools in all this mate and we said that the spin machine would go in to overdrive once the deal was happening and guess what?

IT IS!

Define tapping up.

The buying team talking to the player , giving salary details and advice ..i,e put in a transfer request

If we had a computer type programme that you could enter the requirements of a player we needed we would have entered this

*Premiership proven

*Left sided/footed

*International(preferably English)

*Imposing in the air

*Chips in with goals

*25-28 yr old

*dosen't score own goals

*doesn't give away free kicks around the box time and time again by clattering into players from behind

*does communicate and organize

*doesn't get sent off at critical moments

*can pass the ball out of defence

The only name that would have come out of this programme is Joleon Lescott so In my mind the price is irrelevant and no I'm not being arrogant or flippant its just a fact that because of our wealthy owners we can do business in this way.

We are fortunate and I for one am very grateful for the FACT that we can target and acquire players of this quality.

Sneaky Brucie but true.

The Dunney Monster needs sending out to grass!!!

i think lots of cases could included in the tapping up theme, taylor form newcastle by everotn? they have stated hes not for sale, does this count? byrstov or whatever hes called has been mention by everton, again the club denies any knowledge, like i said any club be it everton, us, or the rags proven to have tapped get punished..simple

Sorry if I'm mistaken but other than city confirming questions from the press about bids for JL all other comments have come form Everton haven't they?. I mean if any one is out of order surely it's from their end. To publicly ridicule and ostracise an individual for alleged behaviour surely could technically be a breach of the employment laws. If one feels that they can no longer work in an environment due to others behaviour towards them then they could leave that place of work contract or not citing constructive dismissal. surely it is EFC and their management who are in the wrong, after all THEY have been the catalyst for all this press talk and making issues of the potential transfer or non transfer. I believe whatever DM's feelings on the situation it is HIM that has blown the whole issue out of proportion and not City for putting in a bid. I feel sorry for JL and how his club and their management have treated him THEY have made his situation what it is NOT City and although JL has put in a request I believe his position at that club has been compromised by the management and not the individual.
That's largely my view, but imagine the frustration if you were in Moyes shoes.

For all we know there may have been contact between City and Lescott, but why would we need to do that? The papers talk of 100k contracts to new City signings did all that for us. And football wise City are assembling a great team even if it might take months if not years to get the best out of them

good points as its whats happens but all could be argued are irrelevant if the club in contract with the Player / Manager state categorically "He isnt for sale" but the buying club state in the media we arent giving up. In the meantime the media are in possesion of the Salary details...then both clubs play tit for tat making their own statements in the press.

To my memory i cant remember us persuing a player like you did with Lescott when been told not for sale...though i could be wrong.
