Only someone who knows nothing about football would describe Lescott as 10 times the player that Dunne is.

Toerag, to describe a player who has been with us for 9 years.

For all the others on this thread try reading the op properly before you lose the RAG. This is not a Lescott or Hughes out post, nor a Dunne must stay post for that matter, but you all are absolutely deluding yourselves if you think Lescott is a world class player or vastly superior to Richard Dunne. I agree he is a different style of player, probably better but that is a matter of opinion, in my opinion he is better but not massively.

The thread was a dig at those idiots like S. E. H. who turned on a Loyal Long Serving Player who was ultimately badly treated by our club, Hughes, Cook and Khaldoon. I fully appreciate what they in the main are doing for the club and that the culture needs to change and this means the old guard just have to go, no dispute there, my dispute is in the manner of doing this.

This treatment of a loyal servant, loyal right up until the day he was told to pack his bags and get out is a very worrying sign, in my honest opinion. If they treat a loyal player like that how will they treat the fans when the time is right, goodbye working class supporters hello prawn sandwich brigade.

As for those supporters who turned on Richard Dunne and said no loss, get stuffed, I do not give a sod how he was treated, and anyway he was shit player, have no sense of loyalty and no appreciation of the skills of football (presumable Martin O'Neill is thick buying him!).

Finally, this thread was a send up of those who choose to berate Dunnie and hail King Lescott, hail Ceasar BEWARE. These very same Dunne haters will turn on you in an instance.

Correction there, I havent turned on Dunne, Ive just never rated him, he should've gone when he turned up a total mess back in 01/02, and the reason I called him a toerag is because of what he called Cook. I dont see why people have a go at Cook, he's done things for this club in the last 16 months which the likes of MacIntosh and Wardle never did, ie, bring money in and raise the clubs profile. As for selling Dunne, he was doing it for the best interests of the club.

I love Dunnie, and to me he will always will be a City legend, but trying to pretend that he is a better player than Lescott is just sad.

We are all sad to see Dunnie go, but lets not be OTT about it.

Never said Dunne was better than Lescott, just more loyal.

I bet we could find 11 lads on here who are more loyal than all of our current squad put together....we'd win f all tho....

He offers something different to Dunne - he gives us balance. Bridge should go from strength to strength with a left footed centre-half beside him.

Dunne was ok as long as the ball was in front of him and he could attack it. Getting him turned was a different matter, Lescott is a better mover and its an improvement.

He'll probably score more goasls in a season than Dunne did in a career. I liked Dunne but this is a good move for us - even if a little over priced.

Agreed, except he was massively overpriced (something clubs have to live with when others know you have money and ambition).

Ok SEH I will respect your opinion, but I believe Dunne and do not trust Cook.

And by doing and saying what he has to the press-exactly what has Dunne achieved?
No matter what your "loyalty" and moral outrage over what you see as some kind of "sell out" of a player who's best days are now behind him-he shouldn't have taken out his bitterness in public, should've said all the polite things that needed to be said, thanked the fans and returned a hero when we play Villa.
Now all he's done is asked for a potential Distin-type ovation when he comes back.

No matter who leaves under whatever circumstances,ANY player will ultimately lose in the long run if he tries to pit the fans of City against the club.
A very poor piece of judgement from a man very highly paid to do the JOB-yes JOB he loves.Dunne has lost a lot of respect from me-though I did have a bad feeling this would happen-and the press have naturally siezed the opportunity to try,as they always do,to create division at the club.

But surely it's far better to get on with concentrating your energy on supporting the players that ARE here?

Like Lescott?
