Let’s keep reminding people of our achievements

I posted this on the Liverpool thread yesterday - but in view of the fact they have now bombed out of the FA cup, following their failure in the League cup, it just shows how difficult it is to win all 4 domestic trophies in one year:

Imagine if a team in the PL was good enough to win 8 of the last 9 domestic trophies - winning all domestic trophies in one season.
..... the publicity & praise they would get in the media for months & months.

Imagine if rags or dippers achieved such a thing. But as they haven’t, it can’t be possible can it???

on a serious note we fans, at least, must cherish that achievement

We need to keep repeating the above facts. We have been to Wembley 9 times in 2 years. Our dominance of the domestic game is remarkable and - as I said above - there would be TV programmes galore if it had been rags or dippers.

Very very true, but doesn’t meet the media agenda.
Yes we should keep repeating the facts at every opportunity

Perhaps City need to broaden their wings to the outside world to tell the story for the world to accept them as a successful club, rather than having the media corrupt their success as a fluke or any other reason to justify what they report on about City. City won the league decades ago and had their fair share of establishment as a prominent club coming up to show the world what they can do, until the unfortunate happened.

Yep exactly. We win the quadruple last season and yet the anti-city media rhetoric claim Liverpool had the better season and yet we could potentially win 3 trophies including the champions league this year, but, yet again, Liverpool would still have the better season.

Our achievements do get the same publicity, it's just that because of who owns the club, if we win 8/9 domestic trophies or 19 games in a row it's a sign of the end of the sport and if anyone else does it (or were to do it) people only care about the sporting achievement. It's the same amount of coverage it's just negative because that's how people feel about the club.

That's just the way it is. The PR war has been won by people who don't like us. People cannot even explain why what we did is worse than Chelsea, because it's not, but they think it is anyway. People know Berlusconi bankrolled Milan to their prestige, but they don't care. They know that Leicester broke FFP 2 years before their league win but they don't think it's relevent, while us breaking it 6 years ago puts an asterisk over every future achievement.

Whether it's hypocritical journalists who pocketed Abu Dhabi's coin themselves but are disgusted by it entering the sport, or it's just rival fans, clubs, managers pumping out bile for 12 years, the club is the enemy of football just as Soriano said we would be in the leaked emails.

You can spend your time and energy getting upset by that, or you can just remember that it doesn't matter.

In time, FFP will be abolished, money will come in, and people's opinions will change as they realise how stupid the rules were. We might even score some moral victories with UEFA that we can point to. The achievements of the team will go down in history, it's just not going to be appreciated in the moment by people outside our fanbase.

As a side note it will be interesting to see how many dippers show up for a victory parade with corona virus that's if they are even allowed one.

Nine times in two years, is that correct?
