Let the man build his team.

Let's hear it for revisionism!

Yeah its a popular game on here - usually preceded by some of the following phrases

"Let the man build his team"

"Hughes needs time to put his stamp on the squad"

"Leave Hughes alone- its really Sven's fault"

You've misinterpreted my comment, but that's not really the issue.

For the record, I was unhappy with SGE's performance when he was the City manager. I was very alarmed at the dramatic dropoff in form last season when most clubs not named City or Arsenal were gelling and improving.

And it's not that SGE is at fault for bringing in these players. They could have been well suited to his system. The problem arises if and when they're not well suited for Hughes's system.

But really, do you think City can afford to change managers right now during the critical transfer window? The timing of all of this simply won't allow it, and there's at least some positive evidence of Hughes's ability to bring in players who can excel in his system, so I'm putting my trust in that and his track record as a Premier League manager.

The most obvious consequence of giving your manager time is the swampdwellers. Its well noted that after 4/5 years bacon face was bolloxed, but through robins goal he survived and the rest is history. I am not saying hughes will get or need five years because the finances are so much different for us now. Two years should see us make huge strides, also the man management style of hughes and ferguson would appear to be similar. I am the boss, i make the rules. To me this is the best way a truly long term successful club can be run. Maybe ADUG have said to themselves, what is a successful model to follow for english football? Mark Hughes has a golden opportunity and dont we all want to see him suceed? I have waited the 32 years, one or two more wont make too much difference. Then we can shove that banner up the collective rectum of the st******d end.

The most obvious difference between Fergiscum & MH is that baconface had already proved he could win things as a manager.

Then it's a good job we've got money - 9 new players ffs we came 9th last year.

Had last season been extended for another month or two, you can bet City would've been worse than 9th. They were dropping like AIG stock as they staggered to the finish line. That disaster at the Riverside was as fitting an ending as anyone could've imagined.

Give Hughes the January window and see what the team looks like in February.

No the people that say give him time make out that the club and team where on its knees before he arrived, we finished 9th last year for god sake(and but for a very odd offside goal that was allowed for some reason we would have finished above his club), we got to the QF of one of the cups. This year we are 13th and have gone out of both cup comps at the first try and both times to teams in lower leagues than us and teams that where struggling for form. This team is leaderless, both on and off the field, sure we can bring in new players, but that doesn't solve the issues with the coaching staff showing leadership from the sidelines which anyone that watched the game today would see is a major issue.

I agree entirely. The dreadful performance today can in no way be put down to giving MH time nor teambuilding. If we have to wait until MH has assembled a squad of his own choosing in order to see the back of the disgrace we witnessed today then I say he and his coaching staff couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag. Whatever the match, whatever the competition, he and the coaches are charged with bloody well winning it. I am seeing precious little input from the technical area that is delivering victory out of adversity.

The players don't play for him though ,do they ?
He bought Ben Haim and them dropped him after one of his better games for us ( he was only awful that day).
Is Zabelleta better than Charlie ? ( The answer is NO, by the way).
He bought back SWP but plays him out of position.
We must have more Hamstring/leg muscle injuries than any other club, but I thought we had the best physicians anywhere aren't we?
Elano is a waste of time, he won't pass until it gets taken off him, his fre kicks are embarressing.
Kompany should be at Centre back, Richards? well, we should get whatever we can for him, as I always said and got called "Rag" on here for , the exceptional thing about Richards was always his age, he's gone backwards this year and won't get any better.
Dunne? we should have ripped anyones arm off who was willing to pay 5 million for him. MFI are selling the same thing for 79.99, and they deliver.
Hamann, too old, Gelson, too sh**.
Vassell.... they won't print it on here.
Those of you who screamed childish nonsence at me about us going down...feel so confident now?
If you have no guts you'll never get anywhere.
I don't want Bellamy but he's got balls at least.
The longer you go on making excuses for these swines that play for and manage us, the longer this will go on.
I hope the Arabs were watching, they won't stand for this.

Fair point. The thing i was getting at was it will take time. sven threw the players together and short term it worked. Second time around teams found us out. The basis needs to be right and it can only happen if it is one man in charge for a reasonable period of time. If today proves one thing it is that its more than a bit of a polish we need, its a complete overhaul of the team. Gutless is one thing that is unacceptable, we have all watched shite players who try to play and can't, we can forgive that. Talent with no heart is unforgiveable.

Look, I hate losing. In fact, I really, really hate losing. I was a miserable human being after the Boro, Bolton, Tottenham, West Brom, and especially the Brighton Carling Cup matches. My wife tends to avoid me when City end up on the wrong end of a score line.

And, yes, it's frustrating that despite a bunch of significant additions to the roster, the fans are stuck watching a product on the pitch that looks significantly worse than last season.

However, once I realized that a special season of Champions League contention and maybe a Carling Cup wouldn't be happening, it's made it easier for me to embrace a transition season.

Mark Hughes knows how to manage. The years he spent at Blackburn testify to that. Even if you take into account ego management, it's easier to manage better talent -- not more difficult.

The problem is that Hughes hasn't been able to make his mark on the roster yet. Think about it: Jô was forced on him by the old regime. He brought in a couple of CBs (Ben-Haim and Berti) as relatively cheap cover. But in terms of the Starting XI, who have been the most consistently solid performers for City this season?

Ireland, Kompany, Wright-Phillips, Robinho, and Zabaleta

What do all except Ireland have in common? They were August acquisitions by Hughes. (And Hughes can be credited for nixing the sale of Ireland in the preseason.)

City aren't going down this season. So let Hughes bring in some quality players this month who he knows can thrive in his system. City probably will finish in the top half of the table again -- possibly even pip a UEFA Cup spot again.

Bridge is a start. Let's see what else he can do. If the Blues are back in the drop zone in February, then consider making a change. But realize that making a change right now would seriously push back the club's timeline for Champions League football. The groundwork for transfer deals typically is laid well in advance, and City are going to have a whale of a time convincing quality players to come to the club right now if there's no manager.

So stick it out and have some patience. We really don't have any other option at this point.
Great post mate,we need more people like you and less of the headless chickens, this is a proper blue ,this lad, the revolving managerial door just doesnt work.Stay strong blues !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
