If we buy Messi, there is no way in hell that UEFA can bar us from the Champions League. They can't have the best player in the world at home while the top club competition is going on.

Yes they really can. Everyone who claims that we can somehow buy immunity from prosecution is quite simply deluding themselves, and it smacks of arrogance IMO. Arrogance, or perhaps an inability to control our frustration at the situation. Why should we feel like we are somehow impervious to attack just because we have more money? The top clubs in Europe spent several years creating the rules by which they could ban us, why would they now buckle at the first sign of a struggle, admit defeat and tell us "you know what, you win. In fact, here's the trophy too. Look after it for us, there's good chaps". If Messi needs to be thrown to the wolves to ensure that we bite the dust, they'll do it. Besides, the second we got kicked out of Europe, Messi would be flying around the cities of Europe negotiating his next transfer anyway.

That's not to mention that, simply put, Messi will never leave Barca, but that's a completely different argument.

Same answer to those people talking about a Super League. Yes, if every top club in Europe left UEFA then the CL would be screwed and we'd have all the cards. But why on earth would all the top clubs agree to join a Super League at our instigation when they've put so much effort into ostracising us and kicking us out of their private members' club? It makes absolutely zero sense.
