Leverkusen (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Absolutely all on pep that. A team selection that reeked of arrogance and complacency when we had the opportunity to go top of pile tonight.

What is the fucking thinking (if any) making 10 changes with players who’ve barely played a full 90 minutes between them and aren’t in any kind of form -all at the same time?!

We now need a result in Madrid and in the remaining games to finish in the top 8 which will put further stress on the first 11 down the line.

Just get the game won and then ring the changes ffs, it’s the arrogance that pisses me off more than the result.

Just because Leeds is the very next game, it doesn't mean the players were specifically rested for it. I wouldn't be that surprised if we rest some players against Leeds as well because following that we've got 10 games in 33 days.

Haaland, Doku, Foden have all played too much football and they have to be rested at some point.

I don't love making 10 changes and the performance of our second string is disturbingly bad, but Pep & co. clearly felt this game was one we could afford to lose, and we lost.
Well that’s not what he was saying before the game. He was saying the win was important tonight.

He has never picked a team like that in the CL before. Never.

Quite a few people saw that lineup before the game and expected nothing less than the result we got tonight. It was actually a lineup that would have struggled in the league cup against Yeovil.
Pep has totally disrespected the opposition, the competition and even worse the fans who shelled out good money to turn up on a cold November night to watch that utter shitshow. It was an inexplicable decision, i have no idea what he was thinking. More worrying is the fact we have spunked very good money on a whole bunch of players who are clearly just not good enough if we want to get back to the very top level. Worrying times as an injury to Haaland and we are totally fucked as nobody else can hit a barn door. Even more worrying is that disease appears to have started spreading to Haaland himself in the last couple of games.
100% take back my shit the bed comment pre-match mate and I'm man enough to admit it... you Benchill tosser x

That’s another one on Pep and his Carabuo cup team selection

But here's the thing. Players need a rest, I get that. Rotation is necessary, I get that. I would, at a pinch, have been absolutely ok (well, not thrilled, but ok) with Pep doing this for the next round of the League Cup. But Jesus, you don't change an entire fucking team in the CL when you're seriously aiming for automatic qualification by getting into the top eight. And the argument that “players need minutes” is an even worse one. There are no try-out games in the CL.
No. Really, really stupid, this one. And I recognise that we would not have necessarily won if we'd started with the line-up we finished with (which would still have given four or five players a rest, by the way) — but we sure as hell would have put more pressure on Leverkusen than that holiday for them that the first half represented.

Win the home games in the CL was the aim though, so it's baffling. Rest half of them sure - it's a shame we can't rest Nico as he looked absolutely fucked - but 10 is crazy against a decent team

Trafford 6/10
Khusanov 5/10 - Not a right back
Stones 6/10 - Not good or bad
Ake 4/10 - Finished
Ait Nouri 4/10 - Wank
Nico - 6/10
Reinders - 2/10 - What does he offer
Lewis - 2/10 - See above
Savinho - 2/10 See Above
Bobb - 3/10 slightly better
Marmoush - 4/10 Hung out to dry

For the first time tonight I genuinely believe the time has come for City and Pep to part ways.

It's been shambolic for 18 months now and there's no signs of things getting any better, if anything it's getting worse if that's possible.

There's absolutely no way anyone can say that this group of players are playing for the manager because it clearly isn't the case.

That result tonight was down to the manager, He's now put us in a really poor position going away to Real Madrid next which realistically we aren't getting anything which will more than likely mean another unnecessary play off game that could have been avoided if Pep had of played his best 11 from the start tonight.

That tonight was effortless, gutless and zero desire starting with the manager and then the group of players, 2-0 down and the majority still walking around and no desire to press to regain possession of the ball.

That tonight was truly embarrassing.
We have been very very average since the rag cup final debacle that was another Pep disaster class
