Leverkusen (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Where to start with this game, when every player was poor to average
But I do like a drum at the game
I wonder if I'll be let in with one on Saturday

Oh and a special shout out for Herr's McCoist and Fletcher on comms
Had to turn comms off after 20 mins. Fuckin fletcher, how much did he want a pen for the none foul by Ait Nouri? The comms were as disrespectful as our team selection. Should be an option for just crowd noise on all games.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah speaking to TNT Sports: "It's an unbelievable feeling [to win at the Etihad] to be honest because coming into tonight, we had a lot of senior players absent even around the dressing room, so the way the boys pulled through, everyone led tonight and that's what we needed. We needed a lot of character and a lot of fight and grit."

On City reinforcements: "We know they've got a lot of world class quality and even the players that started tonight we know they're world class players playing for the countries as well so, it was always going to be a tough task when they came on. We defended a bit deeper than I would have liked to but glad to get the win."

On Leverkusen: "We've got quality players, we're a completely new team, a lot of senior players went last season and a lot of players have had to step up this season. We've got so much quality and so much youth. We've got to try and implement how we want to play the game and we managed to do that in parts tonight."

They looked a better side than I thought they'd be .... when a team knows what it's doing defensively we completely run out of ideas ..... even at Newcastle we create three chances in the first half, then completely disappear in the 2nd half after Newcastle tighten up at the back.

No shit Pep.....

Man City boss Pep Guardiola when asked by TNT Sports what has been said in the dressing room since full-time: "It belongs to us."

On the performance: "I take full responsibility, still I think the players that started were exceptional players but we missed something needed at the highest level. We now have to fight for the next games."

On what was missing: "They [Leverkusen] were good. In general we did very good things as well, we had more chances than them, but they were half-chances."

On making 10 changes to the starting XI: "I have to accept it. If we win it wouldn't be a problem so I have to accept it that maybe it's a lot but I think playing every two or three days we need to [make changes] but seeing the result, maybe it's too much."

On facing Real Madrid next in the Champions League: "We have time."

We haven't beat a top side away from home for ages.
We're getting fuck all in Madrid.

Absolute arrogance. Disrespect to the opponent. Disrespect to the fans. Disrespect to the competition.
Disrespect the opposition and you might get a shock as we did tonight.
Disrespect the competition, I don't really care as UEFA have made a pig's ear of it over the past few decades.
But it pisses me off when I pay good money for a ticket and I'm treated to that degree of disjointed shite.

I’ll adore the fella for ever but my faith in pep took a knock tonight

His idiotic and totally unnecessary team selection stunk of arrogance and complacency
Not sure it was either of those things, but worse, he thought they were good enough! Are his powers fading..

Might as well sign the rag Jamaican sprinter if pace is all which matters.

Couldn't give a fuck how fast they are or how many stepovers they sometimes manage before passing the ball backwards 3 yards.

They couldn't lace the boots of Riyad Mahrez, who wasn't exactly blessed with pace, or Sane/Sterling who were.

Appalling selection by Pep. What did he think would happen? The fringe players who started were timid but that could be predicted.

This is close to a sacking threshold in my opinion. This puts our CL progress at risk and adds to the physical load on the squad. All so needless and entirely on Pep. Occasionally he makes arrogant decisions like this and never learns.

just noticed on the BBC news there when they showed the goals that Pep gave the ref an angry glare while shaking his hand at full time.

To be fair the ref gave us nothing. Did he give us a free all night?
Thought the ref was a bit risky with what he let go. Some very clear fouls. The ?pen for them early on was odd how it wasn’t looked more. Trafford took a throw in and he made a city outfield player retake it. That was odd and I couldn’t work out why?

Trafford - Bottler. Embarrassed himself tonight
Alt Nouri - Shite. Terrible signing
Lewis - Out of his depth. Has gone backwards
Reijnders - Shite x10. The midfield Eliaquim Mangala. Should never play for City again
Bobb - Bobbins. Worse than Savinho.
Savinho - Northern Premier league player at best.
Marmoush - Absolute joke of a footballer. Free transfer fodder.

Pep Guardiola - Arrogant twat. Disrespected Leverkusen, the tournament, abd the paying public. Fucked up on Saturday, fucked up tonight.
This rightly hurts as Gana's slap! :) :) :)

At least that four titles in a row crap excuse has been used less ands less.

The only City fan who actually enjoyed the performance tonight….I bet you have had that post composed for a while (maybe just. changed some of the players names)

I think all City fans will be devastated about the performance…but you fail to hide the perverse pleasure you seem to get when we get beat.
