Yesterday was the day to try the new backs - not going to learn much from playing Orient, any more than we learned from caning Ipswich.
A chance missed.

Need to take this seriously. Potential for further embarrassment if we’re complacent.

No point playing Khusanov and Reis at the back against a lower division set of cloggers out to provide a ‘welcome to England’ message.

It would have been about 9-1 yesterday if we’d played them against arsenal.

But frankly, what difference would that have made - other than we'd have learned things that we don't know now?
Also, isn't there the chance that they wouldn't yet have been taught the City method of full-speed retreat when faced with an attacker with the ball?
They might even - heaven forbid - have tried to tackle them!

tackle = "The act of obstructing a player in order to cause loss of possession of the ball, as in soccer" for those who can't remember...

It'll be the same eleven playing the same system and hoping for the best.

Not much to be done until we end the season but with the club world cup at the end, i'm not sure how we reset.

Maybe a good idea to play them just to get them up to speed? They really need to be playing in the PL IMHO. We need the new signings to gel and also get the youngsters starting, 14 games left this season and we need to start looking to the future now IMHO.

My only fear with that team is that they have never played together and what effect it would have on Khusanov if it goes wrong.
Understand your concern, but we've already seen how Khus reacts to disaster - he gets his head down and carries on.
I was really impressed by his character against Chelsea. He's absolutely nothing to be aahamed of, and I'm really encouraged, first impressions anyway

Ortega; Nunes Akanji Khusanov O’reilly; Gundo Mcatee; Savinho Grealish Foden; Marmoush

Carson

Rico
Reis
Khusanov
McFarlane

O'Reilly
De Bruyne
McAtee

Grealish
Savinho
Marmoush

If Ederson is a small injury and likely to be back for Madrid then Ortega will start

I think Rico and Khusanov will definitely start in defence, not sure McFarlane will. If Dias is fit then I am sure Pep will want to give him some minutes

OReilly and McAtee have to start in midfield, I hope Grealish would start and play midfield too. He gives us energy and ball retention in there which others are not currently

Good chance Marmoush and Silvinho start, may depend on fitness of Doku and Bobb ?

Grealish gives us energy? The only person he gives energy to is our left back by constantly passing back to him.

Ortega
Lewis, Khusanov, Stones, Gvardiol
Gonzalez, Nunes
De Bruyne
Savinho, Marmoush, Grealish

Get Reis on the pitch too, hopefully.

Oretega
Lewis Reis Khusanov ORally
Gonzalez Gundogan
Savio McAtee Grealish
Marmoush

must get Nico G. up to speed and he has to start this one. he should not have his first start straight vs Real Madrid.
not that Leyton is a great preparation for a huge CL night especially he will play around 7-8 different City players than vs Real.

Most definitely not.

We've Real Madrid after Leyton Orient, We can't afford any more injuries, Plus fuck all of the players that played against Arsenal deserve to be starting.

Time to give other lads a go.
I think we should prioritise the Cup as we have more chance of winning that, than the champions league.
It may also be our best route into Europe
