Liam Smith signs official

Ewing did go on to manage Hibs though.

In the early 1960s, City was stuffed with Scots.

Matt Gray & Alex Harley (from Third Lanark), Bobby Kennedy (Kilmarnock), Jackie Plenderleith (Hibs), and Ralph Brand (Rangers) all came in between 1960 and 1965.
Ralph Brand, a goal machine. That worked out well!

He scored two goals for City in one and a bit seasons! He was a Joe Mercer signing as well. He was long past his best when he arrive. He scored a great goal against Bristol City in a 2-2 draw at Maine Road but not much after that.

Except he isn't (did you bother reading his educated posts?)

Dick posted the following:-

'Well let's hope we don't fuck his career up like we have with other youngsters' giving Patrick Roberts as his example.

Dick refuses to answer the question as to how 'we fucked up his career' so perhaps you can answer it?

Five years later, never played a competitive first team game for us and on his fifth loan
So if he's not deemed good enough for us, why are we fucking about sending him (at 23 years of age) out on loan! Why not let him go permanently?

Are these loans enhancing or damaging his career?

And I'm still waiting for your positive examples that prove me wrong

Remember all that fucking about with Jason Denayer!
Him not getting a chance, so wanting a permanent transfer and City fucking him about
This is off his Wiki page and it refers to a period five years ago
So tell me, what's changed?

Manchester City kept an eye on Denayer's progress at Celtic, with Development Sidecoach Patrick Vieira stating "When I watch Jason playing for Celtic, or Marcos Lopes playing at Lille, it makes us really proud. The way they are performing lets [sic] me know we are doing things the right stuff [sic]", and adding "The object is to provide players for the first team, but we know the gap is massive from under-21 to the first team – but this is one way we can get them there

With the exception of a goalkeeper, Billy McNiell signed (or loan) a whole team of Scots!

Greame Sinclair
Jim Tolmie
Derek Parlane
Neil McNab
Dom Sullivan
Gordon Smith
Duncan Davidson
Gordon Dalziel
Jim Melrose
Ken McNaught

I liked Gordon Smith. Disliked by many because he missed that sitter v rags in the cup final for Brighton. Im the promotion season of 84/85 he was top scorer from midfield. Very stylish. Very under rated.

Bobby Johnstone - one of my favourite players from that era. Scored in successive Wembley finals - the first to do so.

Has anyone mentioned Bobby McDonald that Bond brought in? Or Gordon Smith - very talented, elegant player, though I haven't forgiven him for missing that late sitter for Brighton that would have beaten Utd at Wembley. (and no votes for Matt Busby!)

Correction: just seen Bobby Mac mentioned on p.2
Our Matt is in the same category as Denis - moved to the Dark Side!

He did score one goal at the Etihad. It was for Celtic.

I suspect that he may not have moved permanently because he is still under contract at City. Maybe he is reluctant to take a pay cut that would come from a permanent transfer.

We don’t know what the situation is so mindless comments are not helpful.
