Lineker leaving MOTD

I like Lineker but I don't watch MOTD much anymore. Tend to see the short highlights on youtube for non-City games and that's about it. Enjoy the podcasts but there comes a time when it's right to stop paying someone more and more money and bring in a new team. The BBC need to be careful though, it's an institution for some people. And those people are going to need a specific candidate to fill his shoes. I don't think they can refresh it and bring in a new audience as younger people don't want long winded tactical analysis. Could go the way of Top Gear if they're not careful and take a few iterations before they settle on a similar make-up to what they had originally.

Lineker wasn't an issue. The entire MotD format is a tired one is and the BBC could do with coming up with fresher ideas (if possible) to try and drum up a new interest with their coverage. As for Alex Scott if she doesn't show her imparitiality with gooners (along with her partner) then it shouldn't be an issue her taking over.

I’ve nothing against the crisp shagger.

Haven’t watched MOTD in years though if I’m honest. It’s a tired format but then again I hardly watch any football analysis or punditry. It’s all for “banter” and very little technical analysis.

You need to either be pissed or brain dead to stomach most of it.

Lineker was actually one of the more intelligent ones, no doubt to be replaced by some gurning idiot like Micah Richards.

Yes the banter has you looking for the sick bucket.

Wish they could do what ITV have done for EFL highlights and just have one person presenting at a ground somewhere, no analysis. I just watch on iplayer and fast forward it.

Its tired for those that have watched it for decades, still a big audience and youngsters enjoy it - but they are competing with Sky highlights and social media nowadays. not much more they can do.
