Not kidding. 120m Instagram followers is more than United and Liverpool combined. Once the click hunters need the clicks it can start to change. Some journos already saying it would be great for Prem. Imagine the MEN trying to get on board to milk it. This is precisely why he is a game changer for City. He changes the narrative. This is why the old press hacks are shitting themselves.
I think Blue Moon and Esteemed Kompany are in for a hell of a lift off if this happens.
The sniping will continue for sure but don't be surprised to see a change in editorial agenda. They need the clicks.

165 million IG followers which is more than City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs combined. Notably he’s followed by the top people in many other Sports too. He also has 90 million likes on Facebook. He’s the most marketable athlete on the planet. The media will cry themselves to sleep if we sign him as most of them have already shot themselves in the foot and lost their rights with us, from what Tolmie was saying.

I thought we needed another centre half. I know he is the best player in the world but Isnt Messi a bit short?

But he's got a hell of a leap on him.

I guess this has already been posted. But what if he joins and we are still playing behind closed doors to no fans, as is likely to be the case. That would be terrible.

D
Will he lose 45m followers by moving to us? You're right though, he's one of the most clickable names in football with 65m followers more than Barca themselves, although that doesn't mean the press will play nice - a bad headline with his name in it probably drives even more traffic

Telegraph already saying he'll cost us half a billion. If we do sign him you can bet every journos' angle will be disgust at us spending that when people are dying of covid, etc.

Of course if utd signed him they 'could afford it' and the greatest ever would be lighting up the league.

The agenda will continue against us with Messi, because the English press generally hate us, mostly through jealousy. However, he'll raise our worldwide profile immeasurably, not only with sponsors and casual fans but other players too. How many young players would jump at the chance to train and play with the best ever!?

Already my missus had a text off her friend in the US saying her son will become a Man City fan if we sign Messi. I know a lot of people hate casual fans and JCLs but in my opinion anything that helps us overtake those dicks at trafford for commercial income is a good thing.

One of those, got to get worse before it gets better times? What do you make of Koeman's position in all this.

credit btw where due. I genuinely thought it impossible for him to leave, but here we are.

I still remain cautious about hoping he is coming here, but certainly now seems more likely than i'd have been able to imagine.

Koeman is a club legend. His role is minor in the scheme of things

The chief architects of the club's dire situation is Bartomeu & Rosell, Grupo Godo (MD, RAC1 etc) are simply his propaganda machine

There's nothing to be cautious about, not sure what the apprehension is. Messi will no longer be playing for Barcelona, he leaves (officially) in a matter of days/weeks - he's already disseminated this info which means only his destination is unclear. Although I have been clear it will no question be City

Much will be written, damage control & propaganda narratives will look to mitigate the sporting/public disaster but even as a cule, I want Messi to be happy & express his game to provide us all the joy he can with his football. I have said this previously even in blaugrana colors, Leo is a gift for all - pure joy. So why wouldn't I want him to have the best possible situation he can, better still under Pep

My club has seen this myopic conservatism (aka Nuñezismo) before and much like in politics, these things regrettably go in cycles. It took Laporta to dig us out of the hole Nuñez put us in and one day similar will happen to repair the erosion orhcestrated by Rosell & Bartomeu - it just won't involve Messi

The interesting thing for Koeman is that if elections are indeed called earlier than Spring then his continuity is not guaranteed despite signing for 2 seasons, same applies irrespective if elections are not brought up sooner

Now, I will have to wait until Spring 2021 before perhaps getting a chance to see Messi live again...this time at the Etihad. Any tips for first time visitors to the city etc.? What about getting good seats?

If it happens (which it won't) he'll be a target for every journeyman clogger out there and will get no protection from pigmob.

If we can get this deal over the line, the Dippers and Rags will be coming out with the usual guff he is past his best and he won't be able to handle the physicality of the PL. Bitterness levels will ramp up big time.

already had it
