Yep. None of the so called experts seem to know what the Webster rule is. Doesn’t fit the script

There was a subsequent case at the CAS - Matuzalem which basically says that the compensation should represent the damages to the club from the contract being broken. In the case of Barca and Messi this could i suspect be huge.

I used to get my hair cut off the same hairdresser as Aguero in Oldham. Apparently the shop/his barber was snowed under in the shop so he couldn't drive down to Aguero's to do his weekly cut, so instead Aguero rolled up to the barbers in his flash motor with Otamendi and Zinchenko. Apparently according to the hairdresser's in the shop they just walked in and sat down waiting for their hair cuts like regular blokes! Hahah!

Apparently there were a few city fans in there at the time just star struck like what the f*** is going on!

Moral to the story, maybe they might see Messi in there at some point!
Hope he doesn't go on Thursday market day can be a bugger to park a Yaris let alone something bigger.

It's not that we struggle in most aspects of our play without Sergio but clinical finishing seems to drop off. Most of the defeats this year were where we had 70% possession, more than 15 shots yet failed to convert the opportunities. Gabriel adds a lot to our overall play in terms of pressing, movement and tracking back his only flaw is he can sometimes miss chances. I would really want him to stay because he's improving so much year on year but if we are to get this deal done Barca will probably want a forward - for me that would always be Mahrez as Messi and Torres offer ample cover but unfortunately it seems Barca don't want him. All speculation of course but we will know soon enough.

Well if we ditch Jesus, we are then much more desperate for a cf than we are for Messi.

I'm not sure who we can guarantee to replace Jesus & for how much.

One thing we’ve learned recently is that these football journalists are absolutely useless and cannot report anything remotely accurate or unbiased particularly in anything off the football pitch. Bunch of twunts.
If they slag us off or put us down or try to make us look stupid then guaranteed clicks and hits.
Praise us and give us credit equals less hits and clicks.

IF we sign Messi I'm intrigued to see just how these one eyed, bitter, anti city nobheads in the press try to be negative with one of the best players of the generation.

Pretty sure the Webster ruling doesn't apply to Messi guys. He was over 28 when he signed his last contract at Barca, so he can only use the webster rule within two years of signing. He renewed in 2017.

Am I reading the rule wrong?
Yes.

Under 28 a player has to wait until he's 3 years into the contract before he's allowed to invoke the Webster rule, if he signs a new contract after 28 he can invoke it 2 years into that contract.

I'm no legal expert but I'm pretty sure you've got it backwards. They can only do it after two years of the contract have expired, not within two years.

There is no way anyone at our club wants to dick Barcelona about playing hardball, from khaldoon right down to pep, for different reasons. I have no doubt they would be prepared to pay for this to happen, rather than making it a battle and a legal and media mud slinging. Alternatively they can stay out of it and let it unfold between messi and barca, but i think theyd happily step in with money to avoid any negativity.

But no way are they going to bend over and stick their bums out either, or pay over the top for someone they Could get for free with a bit of bravado.

So to me it is all on Barcelona, how cheeky and stubborn they want to be. If they go down the 150m or various top players route, then itl push messi and us to stick with pushing the clause. if they go reasonable, say garcia and 50m, maybe even Angelino (still 100m's worth that), then it could happen quickly and painless for everyone.
