The key is Barca/Messi. There's no deal whilst the E700m fee remains.

I think Messi would be better off not showing for training/tests so that the Barca board realise the consequences of making Messi a hostage. It's still early though in the process. Perhaps non-cooperation comes later.

Esteemed Kompany said that he wouldn’t be turning up for his physical and therefore wouldn’t be able to train. Is there no truth in that then?

it would probably suit him well to turn up to be honest, as awkward as it will be it might smooth things abit rather than giving barca ammo that he was already going against his contract etc...
 
Frustrating Messi lawyers seemingly gone back on their assessment that he could leave for free. Makes it nearly impossible to get done now
