The lawyers got fired because advising Messi is and was a massive conflict of interest. There's a reason why conflict checks exist.

Massive law firms like the one Barcelona were using have 1,000+ lawyers in 25 countries.

It will be very common for them to have representation on both sides of an issue and it's not a conflict of interest unless the lawyers involved are personally discussing details.

More likely Bartomeu binned them for a) PR reasons or b) Because they wrote up a contract that is going to let Messi walk away for free and they told him he didn't have a leg to stand on.

That's because he's a Spanish pundit for English audiences.

His role is basically to collect information and translate it so English speaking people know whats going on in Barcelona. It's a role that's basically being made obsolete by the accounts like BarcaNews and Hagrid, who can translate things and put them out there much quicker.

If Messi's 700m buyout no longer exists because he's in his final year that would also mean that his ability to leave on a free (before his final year) is no longer applicable, no?

He can leave for free at the end of the last season,the row is when that officially was with the extension
