Can’t say I wouldn’t mind seeing Messi in a City shirt for a season or two, but it won’t happen. Didn’t he have his chance, instead he went to PSG?

I don't give a shit how old he is, going up to Manchester to see the greatest player who has ever lived play in sky-blue would be worth it all to me. He's got 40+G/A in a team he doesn't give a shit about, and if Pep - who would motivate him - could get even half that much out of him, I would love every single second. If you think he's not still great when he cares, then watch the World Cup.

It'd be dreamland for me.
He doesn't press and only runs with the ball on his feet, that may work in the farmer's league but not in the PL

I think we could literally see some defenders dirtying their shorts. It'd be revolting and beautiful all at once. (I'm not into that but I bet ya one or two of ye perverts just got excited by the thoughts of it. Sickos!)

It’s heavily rumoured that the Summer he went to PSG we weren’t in for him and instead pushed Grealish over the line.

In 2020 he handed in a transfer request to (supposedly) come here which is a massive move considering his status and adoration at Barcelona. Just Bart didn’t let him leave on a bloody technicality. Typical!

Then bring him on for six minutes in the Carabao Cup!

Don't care if it costs half a million a week, the best player of all time playing in a City shirt would be something beyond words for me. Like having Federer give you a forehand lesson, or Salma Hayek teaching you how bra sizes work.

He did not force the transfer just as much as Barca would not let him leave.

He put on a transfer request and missed training for a week.
That was the only time when he actually forced his way out. But we only wanted him as a free agent understandably because of high wages and barto won't let him go.

He did not seriously force it, we were used.

As I see it, he went to PSG because he didnt have the chance, that year. He had the chance the year before, but wouldn't go through a legal battle over his contract with Barcelona.

That is a quite an oversimplification, and not particularly right.

We weren't 'used', as he got nothing out of that episode, no new contract.

He did put in a transfer request, he also formally tried to terminate his contract, as per his clause, only for Barcelona and La liga to reject it on a covid delay technicality. He challenged it with La liga, who advised it would end up in court. He didn't pursue it further, the consequences being big both for him and for us, including a potential ban for him and a 700m fee for us, after what could be a couple years of legal battles. After the whole cas debacle, that was the last thing the club would have wanted or needed, even if he had been prepared to go through it hinself.

Didn't happen, too late now. But no room for writing our own narratives.

GOAT yes
Gready little bleeder yes
He will fellow the money
Wanting to win the Euromillions rather than the National Lottery is just normal human behaviour. He's not greedy.

As if anyone on here was such a purist tgat they'd choose football over financial security for your family.

I am willing to prove this by winning the jackpot. :-)

Messi brings money back into La Liga. If Tebas is blocking the move wouldn’t be surprised to see him somehow leave his position, although I don’t really know how La Liga works. Especially with the Vini race rowl at the moment and his very vague messages about it.

Money talks, Messi is money to a struggling league.

Your honestly delusional if you think Messi's family doesn't already have financial security - for life.

It might be "normal behaviour" but it's still greed.

Exactly, how much is enough he had his chance and it didn’t come off let Chelsea or Saudi or Qatar throw obscene amounts at him,but I will say this if if we are suddenly and strongly rumoured to be back in for him there would be uproar and clubs demanding it’s stopped ..

Just read Barca are in talks with Miami to do a dodgy deal where Miami sign Messi then loan him to Barca for 18 months the dodgy wankers.
