That's kind of missing the point though isn't it.
Fair and or legal in this case, allegedly, don't tell the full story.
In response, I think the press would crucify us if we did it.
However we have some honourable boardroom members whose word is their bond so I never envisage something so fucking grubby being associated with City.

Yesterday was a tough day and I realise that this whole thing has been pretty mental. Messi's interview is unprecedented in terms of the number of shots he takes at the board at Barcelona. Hard to envisage him signing a new contract there regardless of the outcome of the election next summer. A year of Koeman and Barto is going to take the squad even further back.

FWIW I've been told this isn't over for this window. Hard to know how it plays out until Barto/his board realise they need to sell for their own financial well being. Or maybe they already know that and just don't want Messi dictating terms of how/when he leaves.

My personal opinion though is that I'm a sore loser, and on that basis alone Messi can fuck off. Lets close Koulibaly and get this window closed and next season started!

I have a feeling that jorge Messi flew over to ensure that his gravy train didn't end , not sure he had his sons best interest in all this , Messi threw a strop and had a little flounce about the place, but was easily persuaded to stay in the end . I wonder what deals jorge has in place with Barca to keep Messi there?

It's over for now but like Ric, I think this is very much a done deal for it to be official in January

dont agree mate. the financial shit barca are in if i was on the board of them it now comes down to making the right financial decision for the club? for your suffering business? its utterly brain dead to pay a guy who has openly admitted not wanting to be at the club 1m euros a week and then get nothing for him at the end of it? especially when you need to buy players now and have fuck all money?

no way if city offer a decent deal in the next week or so they dont take it imo Ahsan. The other board members should now be saying the same! The finances and business side comes first.

Just out of interest PB as this is more your area (and I have read the above and it seems to make financial sense on the face of it short term), but we kept reading how we (City) had done the math(s) for this deal and it was definitely viable and profitable for us as a player, his commercial value, future revenue etc etc for CFG, if it was going to work for us as a long term strategy, why could it not work for Barca in a similar way, surely a Barca WITH Messi is a much more attractive proposition for any of their future business investment long term than one without, whether that be financial investment, player recruitment ? Is it simply that their current debt is way too much and they really do need to sell now/soon, 'a breast in the hand is worth two in the bra' so to speak ?
Cheers
With the hand grenade that Messi threw yesterday about the state of the club, I'm not sure top players and new sponsors will be in a rush to get on board.

Whilst Messi may or may not stay, he has done a lot of damage to Barca

Barca were damaged the moment Josep Maria Bartomeu was elected and to be fair Barca were damaged when Pep and co left, partially for political reasons.

Not sure the Barca supporters/ election system is a good working model, it seems to go wrong as much as they get it right.
