While there is no need to respond to it, when it gets close to January, he can very easily put a stop to all that, with a simple statement that he has decided it is his last season, he is honouring the contract he was forced to honour, as noted in the summer, out of love for the club etc, but that is it. That then stops him being used as a pissing contest between rival candidates, and opens up publucly to other clubs to start negotiations. Then Barcelona have the call whether to look to get something out of it in january, or not.
