Hope you are right but Messi has won it all in club football...
And that is exactly why he won't be signing for us. It's not just him, why would he want to disrupt his wife and kids family life. It's certainly not for the money, not like he needs it. The guy isn't going to move his whole family lock stock and barrel over here for the sake of one more season or CL chance.
The ship has sailed.

I don't see how City deciding not to extend Kun would have any bearing on Messi's decision, unless Messi has now decided that never winning the CL again is ok and accepting a pay cut is fine as well.

In a perverse way, I think Aguero leaving could increase our chances of getting Messi.

Frees up a huge chunk on wages, frees up a foreign player spot, frees up a spot for a player in their 30s, frees up the number 10..

Yes, I don’t really see how Aguero leaving means there’s now no chance of Messi coming. I could never see Pep playing both of them in this City team that relies so much on energy up front and good pressing to be at it’s best.

I suspect Messi will stay where he is but don’t think any move would collapse purely due to Aguero going.

In view of the Kun decision I am of the view Messi will not play at city, would ha ve been special to see them on the pitch together in sky blue and something to cherish. It could still happen that Messi arrives but I think our priorities lie elsewhere.

There’s more to it than that. His wife, his young kids, even his dog will be considered!

He might just think it’s not worth it to uproot them all. It’s not like he’s guaranteed a CL trophy with us or anything.

Exactly. He may well accept less money. Or less money with a future role that evens it out. Or just the pure acceptance of 'fate' that if it was meant to be, it would have been last season, or take a bloody pick of reasons not to leave if he has the choice of staying.

All would be equally valid and personal. If he stays, which I've always thought likely, no issue with that, i will still beleive any chance and intention of him arriving last summer was genuine. And if he sticks with leaving, and out club think it is worth making it happen, I will welcome it.

Typical City isn't it?

The best player in the world and one of the best ever has his heart set on joining us and a bloody worldwide pandemic extends the season which causes a clause in his contract to be missed.

Add to that a knobhead president who doesn't stick to his word.

Infuriating.
