I love the defence myth. We conceded 1 goal more than the best defence in the league. We may have conceded more chances but that’s down to a weakness in defensive midfield. I’m not saying we don’t need a defender, we do and we’ve got one maybe another coming too.

The real issue in my opinion is the number of squandered chances in tight games.

In my opinion anyway.

Yes I think this is a problem that is being underestimated. We have to sort it and form me that means one of Sterling or Jesus going and a top class finisher being brought in to spearhead the attack alongside Aguero where possible.

Bernardo might not have been at his best this season , moreso since he was a victim of the witch hunt about his tweet to Mendy, but no way has he been dire.
I would rather have him in the team than Mahrez..he works much harder and tracks back too.

I’m not saying 30 odd year old Messi at £100m Is the answer to this particular conundrum BUT he would score goals against the teams we are talking about. Wolves, Southampton etc etc

The tweet was nothing to do with form, he was burnt out after the season before and lost his managers confidence.

Big season coming up for Bernardo, muck or bust as far as his career with us.

Well he might have been knackered before but the press must have played on his mind affecting him even more.
Hopefully he's back to his best next season..

Complete nonsense and any player on twatter deserves everything they get.

It's a place full of idiots, full of shit and gives you mental anxiety.

Also what would the reaction have been if those tweets were sent after the George Floyd incident? Hell to pay for sure!

Not for me now, 3 years ago yes but this is an expensive circus that will cause more damage than good and I’m absolutely convinced City aren’t in for him.

By all indications from various sources , city just need the go ahead from Messi that he wants to come ( won't be initiated by us) and city will try and make it happen.

He has just turned 33. So has 3 seasons at a minimum to perform at the highest level.

An absolutely no-brainer in my opinion.

Having said that, it's all political and a power play and doubt he leaves

SSN saying they reckon he will now stay - they dont half hedge their bets considering they have been saying he could leave for the last 24hrs or so!

I agree we’re not clinical enough but you could use the stats the other way though and show we scored more than anyone else this season. I wouldn’t use the total goals scored to suggest we are efficient in front of goal but not would I suggest our defence was solid.

Our defence was not good enough so we didn’t win the tight games. I haven’t done the maths but suspect that if you looked at how many goals we conceded per minute out of possession our stats would not look so good.

Thank you, for saying maths, rather than fucking math

It won’t happen because Pep needs to win CL with City , hes won it twice before with Messi in the team , if Leo signs and City win CL who s it all down to ? Certainly not Pep . So Pep will not be bringing him to the club for the obvious reason

At 33 you do not have at least 3 seasons at the top level, you’re about to see a significant decline in his football and I do not want us paying £400k + a week for the privilege of hosting such decline.

I don't think City would pay that.

If he did come, I think it would be covered by some kind of sponsors deal.

fair enough.
Fernandinho and Kompany at their peak were very effective. We have yet to replace either.

We win if we score more that the opponent but imo our attacking midfielders and forwards are A* but our defence is C-.

We have either a 35 year old midfielder playing in defence, or Ota, or a teenager, and a right-back playing centre back. It's not good enough.

As much as I agree I think looking at the stats will suggest that we scored more because when it did go well we were scoring 4,5 and 6.

In my opinion we conceded because we were left open due to Fernandinho being in central defence. That was down to injuries rather than defence being poor. We do need to reinforce and we have done.

I do think the defence thing is a easy criticism that is based on our recent history rather than performance this season.
