The reason Messi is quality is because he's a team player. So I disagree I think he'll blend into the team. I reckon him and DeBruyne will cause havoc.

Messi the full on team player, pressing hard, tracking back etc?
Ahem.
I don't Believe that’s his game, is it?
He’s brilliant, not as brilliant as he once was but still brilliant, but he’s never been a ‘team’ player.
He’s the focus, he’s the fulcrum, he’s the bloke they give the ball to, he’s the bloke they work off.
He doesn’t ever ‘blend in’. He’s huge, (possibly bigger than his club in some regards).
He demands to be given the ball and he insists that he’s the highest paid player at his (club by a country mile.
He expects to be involved in, and consulted upon, recruitment intentions. And to have a veto over them.
He expects to be consulted on proposed management changes.
He will also demand change if he’s not best pleased with his team’s manager.
He’s Lionel Messi and both the club and the team play for him.

The whole circus surrounding the Argentian national should sound a few alarm bells as well (although its not all down to Messi)

Messi plays with head up. So many times he's drawn players in to make space for others then he finds them

What's this obsession with tracking back? Just watched PSG stroll through a CL semi final and I'm pretty sure Neymar didn't run back towards his own goal a single time.
Let brilliance do its work or we may as well have Fat Sam as manager

I know its probably not all barca fans but the way they've turned on him over these reports, wow calling him a snake and some fans on twitter calling him a coward if he leaves barca now.
Fans as classy as the President of the club.

It's amazing how Barca have fallen off a cliff, everyone's 2nd favorite club, they are now a shambless on and off the pitch.

He's gone from 5-1 to 5-2 with the bookies today to join us. Personally I think it could be another Rodney Marsh type scenario if he were to come to city (which he won't).

Andreu Font, the guy who will almost definitely win the election in March, just said that Koeman will be fired if he wins.

This is the kind of shit that I think would genuinely make someone leave a club.

Messi is the best player in the world, and outperforming every other player on the planet, so i don't care what metric you use, he's not Rodney Marsh.

I think that you’ve responded to the wrong post because I didn’t compare Messi to Rodney Marsh.
I saw a comparison made to Cruyff in 1972 and I corrected the year to 1979 so that the Cruyff used as a comparison would be as old as Messi is now.
Cruyff was well past his brilliant best by 1979 in the same way that Messi is now past his brilliant best.
And I think Messi could still be great for us (though not as great as he once was) going forward but we’d be playing with 10 men whenever we didn’t have the ball.
