Large pinch of salt needed but this report says Messi generated over 500m for Barca over the term of his last contract (signed 2017) https://everythingbarca.com/2021/02/05/lionel-messi-generates-barcelona/

How they come to that figure I have no idea but *if* true (or remotely true) then he would be pretty much self funding
Thanks for the link bud, but doesn’t really evidence anything.

If the article is true, then I’d guess Barca are well & truly fucked if losing Messi will cost them around 200m Euros/annum!!

If Barca’s revenue doesn’t drop by 200m Euros this year, I guess we’ll know that these figures are a croc of shit

I get what you’re saying, but an increase of 20% of commercial revenue is a fucking huge %. Would also mean increasing our turnover by over 10%, which again is huge

Would all of our commercial sponsors add an extra 20% onto what they pay us? Maybe they would, but it would be a big surprise to me if they did
Abu Dhabi tourism ;)
Governing body - txiki and ferran.

I’m in for that. Which Asda?
Every fooking single one of them mate.....

I've also managed to find an old mattress and I've placed it's in my garage...I'll kidnap Mr Messi until he signs a deal with City.

He'll sign on the 4th day after the diazemuls take effect, I'll have the little shithouse dribbling more than he did at Barca.

I bloody hope so anyway! :-)
Just imagine it!!
I think everybody who sponsors us would want a piece of Messi, I think that's how it works.
And if they want a piece of Messi then it comes at a cost.
And if it comes at a cost then the sponsor money goes up by a %age.

Again simple when you break it down.
End result?

Having Messi in your ranks ends up covering your costs and wages for Messi.

I'm back on the Messi mambo. :)

I know it sounds a bit crazy but the raised profile of the club, extra shirt sales, add-ons from existing City and global commercial partners, plus extra TV money (every game would be screened).
I think we would comfortably earn an extra £52m.

If you are Puma, you cannot tell me that they wouldn't contribute £12m extra to help make it happen, and get one over Adidas and Nike.

Etihad extra £10m (all those extra shirts)
Nissan extra £8m
SAP, Cisco, EA Sports...
Raise the profile of the club.... so that we can attain the same level of shit show that he's left Barcelona in?
And fuck up the first team squad wage scales for years to come?

He'd be nothing more than a vanity signing. The club would become a short term freak show that sponsors, hangers on etc would drop like a stone as soon as he walked away.

Don't fall for his crocodile tears at Barcelona. He's a greedy tax avoiding mercenary who has effectively held them to ransom for years.

His heart would never be in any club. I want to see players at Manchester City who genuinely want to play for Manchester City.

Let PSG or Chelsea have him.

Couple of pointers. Don’t wear a Spider-Man outfits and don’t go with your kids. Otherwise you should be golden
