It is one thig to debate a hypothetical would messi be great/right for us (the basic impossibilityof it aside). But at the expense of giving them Bernardo? No fucking chance, wouldn't swap them for anything! in that scenario, they would strengthen, we would weaken, without a doubt. Maybe not immediately, but certainly over the course of a couple years, and beyond that.

Doesn't get subbed
Doesn't have to defend
Can walk for 80 minutes.
Cannot be part of any team criticism.

If City are resorting to some type of marketing exercise , I will be very disappointed.
95% of fans have not watched him play last season.
It would backfire badly.
He is lionnel messi, not peter pan.
 
messi signing would be a no win ? no lose deal

forget the value or fee and wages of signing him from barcelona, the sponsorship and image rights and shirt sales would pay for it in one season, but everybody would question the value to the squad and will he offer something to the team at his age and at a different league

messi would be a great signing for manchester city because of the hype, and even if he only scores in 1 in 3 games the whole hype would get to other teams and open spaces for others, just think messi lining up in a city shirt vs liverpool at anfield or united at OT that alone would be worth the price

the only down side would be will pep turning to messi and would he become the main player and pin all the hopes on
and the team based on messi ?? messi can not be the main man anymore and should be just played as a player that works with other players

anyway its would be a yes from me and what have we to lose if messi wants to come and give 100% to manchester city
 
Messi's age is still a geniune concern regardless of his ability and despite the coaches he had at international level the Messi/Aguero partnership never looked that convincing. I'm stil stick by this is too good to be true and its still a ticking time bomb signing.

I got Messi signed for City on Fifa.
Plays rm in a midfield 3.
He’s pretty good y’know.

It is an interesting question - how would you fit Messi into our first 11? I am not saying he wouldn’t fit in, in fact I am saying the very opposite. Would you play him as part of a front 3? If so would Aguero or Messi go wide? Would you play him as part of a two man attacking midfield or would KDB drop deep? What you might call an embarrassment of attacking riches problem!
