Well, if you fully recall the match you'd know Leo set up a number of scoring chances that his teammates failed to convert at Anfield

he also destroyed them in the 1st leg, the game should of been over......

ignore Marv, he likes to think of himself as edgy, going against the grain, however, any man and his dog can see the reasons behind the Barca decline and it isn’t Messi!!

We must not be selfish and think only of City's interests.

The amount of piss this deal would boil in Liverpool, Stretford and London would provide sufficient energy to keep the UK going for five years.

just watching that video reminded me of how absurdly better he is at playing football than anyone else. I have seen him live just the once at the start of his Senior career In 2005 whilst on a stag weekend in Barca. Ronaldinho was who we went to see.. we all came away knowing we had seen someone extremely special and he didn’t look like bugs bunny. He is the most naturally gifted player of all time imo. Only Maradona is even close.. and even he probably wasn’t quite as good and had more baggage than Terminal 4 At Heathrow.

It would go against everything our owners have built and against the general structure of how the club is currently run but provided he avoided injury we would get 18-24 months or jaw dropping moments.
You'd see glimpses of the past and a few defeats especially away from home, and you'd see Liverpool crowned champions for real.

So in your opinion having Messi is going to weaken our squad? Brilliant!

Our pressing from up front will have to change, Messi just doesn't bother.
As long as the players around him know they've got to do his work for him then we'll be ok.
Quite amazing player in his pomp, he's not the Messi of old but he's still some player

True, so you have to build the team around him, ok, but not at 33 years old, if he was 29-30 absolutely you build the team around him.
That's exactly why Barca and Messi are now at the situation we have now.

I understand the marketing value of this deal. I'd also love to see Messi in a City shirt. He can still play a bit. And while he might add nothing to us defensively he'll occupy at least a couple of defenders creating space for Kevin, Kun etc. Imagine him instead of Mahrez.

Having said all that I think we'd be better off buying Mbappe.

Sure we'd have some good days at the Etihad battering some weak sides and seeing Messi score a hatr-trick as he still does with barcelona but can you imagine going to Anfield with Messi in the side. It would be a humiliation.

Think back to Liverpool v Barcelona two seasons ago. They destroyed that side, and Anfield baited him as he trudged off the pitch.

Barca were shit then just as they were against Bayern. No legs anywhere in the side. Hardly Messi’s fault but are we now pretending he couldn’t do it against Liverpool? Let’s not forget the first leg where he scored 2 belters and put what should have been the killer 4th on a plate for someone in the last minute.

As if there is even a debate about whether It would be good to have Messi at City!
