I think some people need to chill a little, the numbers on the line are huge here in footballing terms.

A negotiation of this size, and prominence will take time - if anyone thought it would be one or two meetings a handshake and walk out to announce everything to the world, then you’re being a little optimistic.

The bi-lateral talks between Barca and Messi’s team will take days, then there is a legal sign off required between them. Then we have to move onto bringing city into the equation which will be another couple of days (if not already laid out), or a day even if already agreed.

These things take time, process and due diligence, city are a clubs that do things the right and honourable way now so we will let Messi and Barca sort themselves out first - after all - that what we would want if someone was trying to take the jewel in our crown away from us right ?

Relax - watch the rubbish being put out by all the media just guessing at what’s happening and have some faith.

If Bartomeu doesn't buckle this transfer simply won't happen. We ain't signing him with a pending court case nor will Messi leave like that.

If this was any other club I'd feel confident the club will do what's right for them in long term and agree to sell him but this is Bartomeu - in a club with elections and so much politics long term doesn't matter. He'll gladly leave the next president with an utter mess to clean up.

He already has put papers into FIFA has he not? I can't see what else it would be for besides the International clearance.
Where has this been reported? I keep hearing that he's gone to Fifa. Who has reported this? Haha

Reports in Australia he is signing.. hopefully its true

I personally don't think it is just up to Bartomeu, if it is in Messi's contract, there's not much he can do about it. I'm sure he he does the right thing, Barca will get something out of it, but if not, it may end up in court.

That would require Messi to decide he is happy to stay at Barca. Otherwise, he won't be staying there, no matter what.

Seem like staying for one more year is gaining traction with more journalists. Who knows if they are all going off that first journalists ‘info’ or if they are now receiving similar information.

only saving grace is that the next president would likely forego the court case once they got voted in

I don’t think they know anything but someone will be right eventually.

Exactly how I see it as well mate.

I think one thing is now clear... we can't secure him on a free transfer as we were hoping.

The question is, are we willing to pay a significant sum plus his wages to bring him here ?

Ball is in our court IMO.

I trust the club with it. If we walk away, it will be for the right reasons.

We aren't a club that will be held to ransom any more.
