There's precedent in the past where clubs have signed deals with players on a bosman but then offered the club a fee to do the deal in January rather than wait. Suspect City will try and Barca would accept.

Fernandinho is testament to that. Was fit as a butcher’s dog but rapidly declined.Don't rule it out. It happens to the best of them and Messi is no exception. It is down to which club will witness that decline.

But dino also had a more demanding role. Playing Dm is tough but difficulty level increases up a notch when a side plays attacking football like we do. It could still happen though but if other members of the team can share his workload, he could play for another 2 to 3 seasons at the top level

Absolutely. Messi might well have a couple more years or so at the top. He does indeed play a less physically demanding role than Dinho. On the other hand I believe he’s had a lot more injuries.But dino also had a more demanding role. It can go either way. Just saying that, once started, a decline can be rapid.

Just read something on Twitter ( someone via Hagrid?), that we’ve put a bid in??
I think that was Barca have said that we never made an offer and the “leaked” document that claimed we had was false.
Interesting that city and Barca both quickly came out and said it’s not true. Normally they don’t bother we stories like that.
