shows how insular the media are in this country when they basically say no one can touch rooney when true greats like messi are around.

23 apps 22 goals and 9 assists, I think he's taken less penalties than Rooney aswell but I'm not 100% sure.

I think he's had 19 league starts btw.

you can say yes rooney has more goals this season,

but can you say rooney plays well EVERY game?

this season he's had some shockers and he's only started getting bummed by the public and the media for the last few months,

messi always has a top game, he has a bad game now and again,

between the 2 messi is far more consistent than rooney,

obviously it doesn't matter how you score your goals, if your in the right place then you score, but messi's goals always seem to involve him ripping through 3-4 players, now i ain't saying rooney can't do that but honestly how many of his goals he scores involve him making it himself and running through players?

he scores crosses and tap ins sometimes, you can argue that's what he's there for, people will have difference in opinions, but i can't say i've seen rooney split open a defence on his own work,

i'm not being biased, but Messi is the best player on the planet and has been for 3 years, the guy is sublime and at the moment he's a class infront.

I don't deny against UTD he was class.

But against the likes of Burnley, Wigan, he just wouldn't get the time he gets in La Liga hth

Tranny is still the better player for me. Done it for United and now for Real Madrid. I don't think Messi would be as good in the Premier League. His record of 1 goal in 11 against English teams seems to be a good indicator of how he'd find it a little harder. Tranny's speed, height and strength do it for me. These two are playing a different game to anybody else though. I just think Tranny is slightly better.
 
i hate to say it, it hurts, but tranny is the best player in the world, he really is untrue

i can ALMOST enjoy watching what he does now, but not quite,
hes just got raw power and can do anything,
and people amaze me saying messi wouldnt be good over here, hed be amazing and if i was our owners, i would really break the bank to get him here
 
In league games only these are the following stats for the players:

Messi: P23 G22 A9
Rooney: P28 G25 A3
Drogba: P24 G21 A6
Ronaldo: P17 G15 A4

So Messi has a better goals to game ratio and more assists than Rooney thus scoring more and prividing more for the team in total than Rooney. Drogba has also contributed more goals via goals and assists this season than Rooney in less games.
