Tommyfields Market, Oldham. Always fun, now has an award winning pub inside (Cob & Coal) next to a great little Thai cafe.

Marple via the Ashton canal and Peak Forest canal is an excellent bike ride.

You can push on a little further to Lyme Park too. It’s uphill but a brilliant place.

I went to school and sixth form in Oldham in the early 2000s. We used to go to the chippy in Tommyfield market all the time. One of the best chippies I’ve ever been to, and the oldest in the world apparently!

Oldham isn't everyone's cup of tea but the art gallery is fantastic, there's load of great parks and you're minutes from top pubs in Saddleworth. The town centre looks smarter than it has for years.

I haven’t been to the town centre in years. Glad to hear it’s had some sort of regeneration.
