Liverpool (A) PL - Post Game

Ooops memory fade on the year. You're quite right on last summers transfers, we have made a mistake or two. Hopefully we can fix it this summer. Won't be easy, though.
I agree mate totally. Pep may have thought they'd be up to it for another season and took the chance and it may now have backfired. You're a similar age to me and "68 at Newcastle" is etched forever in my head due to my dad being there and mentioning it to his dying day, lol.

My brother was 13 and he apparently defied mum's "you're not going" and went anyway with some older mates. Would definitely have been worth the consequences upon his return.

There are way too many people without any elite level footballing knowledge making way too many judgements on our team.

The reason we are in a slump is NOT because players are past it, NOT because Pep has lost it, NOT because Txiki and Ferran are incompetent. It is simply because a whole bunch of injuries to key players have coincided with other key players being exhausted from the sheer amount of games played as a result of success.

Sometimes the stars align, you ride the crest of a wave, you get the rub of the green, you don't lose key players and with hard work and determination, you win trophies. And every fan laps it up.

Other times (like now), everything seems to go wrong, players are injured, players are tired, players come back from injury and get injured again, refereeing decisions go against you, deflections end up with the opposing striker. Then most fans just want to blame someone, anyone.

Yes, we maybe should have acted better in planning for aging players drop off, yes some players should be taking more responsibility, yes Pep has made some mistakes. But, if all that had happened and we'd still managed to get lucky results, none of these witch-hunting behaviours would be evident from fans.

Things aren't ideal now, but despite what the red media (led by sky and their two ex red arse wipes) may say, we are not finished, there aren't changing room issues and we will be back.

Many on here need some perspective, a team doesn't go from being the best team in the world to relegation fodder in the space of 6 games.
We couldn't win at that shithole with prime Aguero,Silva,Toure,Company or Fernandinho so wasn't expecting bugger all yesterday. In a poor run the last fixtures you want for us are Dippers away and Spursy anywhere. As Pep's says this is the turning point and as bad as it gets.

What Pep and City need right now money can not buy.
We need a lucky break and something to change the mental aspect of losing and feeling nothing is going right.

It is simply we have lost how to play and win a game of football and panic, Players don't want the ball in fear it's him that fuck's up and ends up with another loss, World class players are still human and silly things can get in their heads and end up doing stupid things just like you and me,

We think the world is against us right now, but like playing well and in good form and winning, well this game is so fucking easy we can do it in our sleep,

WHEN YOU THINK, then it becomes the problem
We are just overthinking the problem and believe it is a major crisis when it's not, We all love this club, The Owners, Players and Manager, coaches, the kit man, the tea lady, everybody, We are all truly blessed

Pep, Players, Coaches, The owners, We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts
All we want is to keep watching you putting on that City shirt with the badge on your heart and play to your best ability. Win, Lose or Draw Together

Stefan Ortega on the 'sacked in the morning' chants towards Pep Guardiola: "Someone told me before that this area [Liverpool] is probably not the best part in the UK. I think the manager reacted really well, yeah..."

Amen
thick scouse cunts....scruffy twats as well

Even Txiki acknowledges the last year in the transfer market wasn’t great, but we are talking about the best team EVER in England all hitting the physical wall at the same time, with both age and injuries contributing together.

We are in a rather unique moment and the entire English footballing world wants to knock us off our perch, so the media and other fan pile on is to be expected. What is bad, and I’m at fault here, too, is that our own fans are seeing the writing on the wall and some players are finding nowhere to hide.

Coupled with Pep using “yesterday” tactics to address “today” problems, and you have a perfect storm that has produced the worst run on forever for Pep and for decades for the team.

This, too, will pass, but there are no quick fixes in football, especially when the problems are entrenched and need a long term fix.

I fully expect we will soldier through this season looking bang average for long periods, but I also fully expect City 25/26 to look quite different from the OAP XI we have today.

We've been staring at an obvious cliff edge for about two years or so and done very little about it.

I've written far too many times on here about succession planning at all levels of the club. It's been poor, and coupled with Pep's 'preference' for a small squad, it was clear to me that problems lay ahead.

Ive watched City for 64 years of my life and seen highs and lows. I can honestly say that I don't remember being as disappointed with the performance of a City team as I have been over the last few weeks.

We have a squad full of elite level, international, multimillionaire footballers who look like they've all downed tools. They're worn out, lack proper on-field leadership, and it seems too much of a coincidence that they've all 'lost form' at the same time. As supporters, we should expect more from them, not looking for excuses or feeling sorry for them.

I doubt very much that Pep's lost the dressing room, but there's definitely something not quite right about the current situation.

We're carrying far too many passengers (i.e. KDB, Gundo, Bernardo, Walker) and players who aren't yet good enough (Nunes, Doku, Gvardiol, Savinho, Lewis) for this level. This impacts negatively on the team, particularly in the midfield.

I think that the club, in general, rested on its laurels after winning the CL. That was the point where significant changes should have been made. It is to the squad's great credit that our fourth successive PL title was won last season, but the price is now being paid.

I'd honestly prefer to have seen a major overhaul of the squad last season rather than the 4th title... But hey ho...

I just hope that the club get it right when Pep finally leaves. It's the hardest act to follow in football, and I definitely don't want us to go down the same route as the rags.

The team showed some proper battling spirit yesterday.
I feared the worst in the days leading up to the match. Very little had changed from the previous two horror shows. Nobody was suddenly fitter or had more energy and we still had a big hole where our midfield used to be. On top of that, the scousers were riding high and on a roll. A heavy defeat was on the cards.
Five minutes in and the ensuing battering looked inevitable. Liverpool tore into City from all sides and we were on the ropes already. A combination of piss poor finishing and last ditch defending kept it at one nil. City had barely strung 4 passes together.
Then, and rather nervously, City players began to hold onto the ball and find their team mates with it when under pressure. After giving it away constantly for the preceding 25 minutes it took some balls to stick with Pep's principles but stick with them they did, managing to pass their way up the pitch and into the scousers half. City had ridden the storm and were now searching for an equaliser. Half time came too soon.
Just before coming out for the second half the tv cameras were showing Ruben giving the whole City crew a seemingly rousing speech. There was no audio but it was plain to see he was defiant, determined and up for the fight.
A very quiet start to the second half saw City once again keeping the ball and putting pressure on the home side. It looked like Slot and his players were settling for the one nil and sat happily with ten behind the ball. City were now the better team and the most likely to score. Doku had been introduced and they were shit scared of him. It felt like we could equalise and get something out of the game.
All the good work was undone with ten minutes left. An ill judged back heel and a rush of blood saw the guy who's Mam got kidnapped gleefully fly into the keepers challenge and go down like a spitfire. Nailed on penalty and game over.
It's been a long time since i was 'happy' with a defeat but given the awful performances i saw in the last two games, the manner of this one gives me some hope that the awful run of form is coming to an end.
