Liverpool (A) PL - Post Game

Can't wait for the bell ends to say we are not in a crisis and it is ok because we used to be shit. We are fucking awful and our points tally flatters us. Outside of the top 4, spineless performances and our manager repeating the same mistakes. Shambolic.
Judging by your post I’m going to say you’re 25 or under.

Am I warm?

Failing to win the title in 1 from the last 5 seasons shouldn't make us too unhappy.

Pep knows he has to rebuild the team. City III may be a beast too, given that City I won the domestic treble, and City II won the CL involving treble. The quadruple is on its way :)

That was depressing, first half hour we were utterly dire. Improved a bit and showed some fight but zero creativity. Liverpool were very very comfortable. The issue for me is that it was like watching Liverpool against West Ham or Fulham. We were committed but limited and ultimately outclassed.

Dias had an ok return, good for most of the match but an absolute howler for the penalty. Walker had a stinker again, lost Gakpo for the first and was the weakest link when we were pressed though Akanji wasn’t far behind first half with some really poor passes. KDB’s poor effort from Van Dijk’s mistake summed us up. Ake struggled initially but got to grips with Salah, so much so most of his chances came through the middle. Savinho didn’t look fit.

We never looked dangerous at all in attack. Doku was bright but created little. At no stage did we stretch Liverpool.

Hard to see how we’re trying to play, we don’t press aggressively, we’re not good enough in possession and too slow moving forward. Hopefully the return of Dias and Ake will help. Thought Lewis struggled wide but was a little better in midfield but himself and Bernardo struggled with Liverpool’s physicality in midfield.

Referee was mostly a non issue but made a few mistakes especially not booking Gravenberch early which allowed him foul Foden when we were looking dangerous on a rare occasion first half.

A bit of fight and some improvement but ultimately we were second best by some distance.

I think if we had Kdb and jack in there it may have changed lpool mindset as they didn’t see any threat from ko .
May not have done done but would have given us more going forward
We'll never know tbh, but how often have we been in form and fully fit and actually won at that shit hole recently? Let's be honest, not very often, we could have played like 70's Brazil (slight exaggeration) and still lost there, given our luck and poor finishing in the last few years.

Thought at a pinch we deserved a draw from that second half display however our 2 biggest issues are giving away goals and being non existent in the final third. Hence the run we are on.
You forgot our midfield being overrun.

But apart from that we look alright, yeah ;)

When i saw the team i thought we were going to get a thrashing and it looked on the cards for the first 20 odd minutes, but we showed some fight to stay in the game.

I thought our midfield was slow again especially when the ball goes past them and surprised Kev didn't come on sooner when it was 1-0.

I do like the team that ended the game and think Pep should play that against Forest.

We have a lot of issues still though and have a big January coming up. We need a defensive midfielder, a RB and a striker and see how high up the table we can get.

I thought Ortega, Dias and Ake played really well.
