Liverpool (A) PL - Post Game

We simply have to buy a central midfielder with presence, graft and heart in January.

Right back, and someone to help Haaland out up top would be handy, too. But we won't get all that in January. Not quality players in those positions. We must play the long game, as Txiki has always done. The central midfielder is the absolute priority.
Anyway, it's a another discussion.

I think putting two and two together (and maybe getting five) he is scared shitless about picking up another injury before he gets one last big contract.
You have forgotten he played with an injury for months during our CL winning season and broke down during the final. I think that is commitment.

That was probably the most worrying performance of this run, for me.

It seemed from kick off that we had a defeatist attitude, both with the team that was named and the way we set out, with an aim to just keep the score down.
The high line was a disaster again. It only works when you've players in front of it pressing, a thing we seem to have forgotten how to do. Any type of long pass had Liverpool in and our defence looked so slow.

Walker, Gundo and Silva are done.

We improved in the second half in terms of actually having the ball more but I never thought that we'd score.

It could have been any score you like to the dippers.
It was a poor game quality wise I thought for a supposed top of the table clash. Lots of misplaced passes and mistakes.

Get to January now with as little more damage as possible done, get two midfielders in ASAP and try to finish in the top 4 is all we can hope for now.

Get top 4 and that's a good season all in all

Pep needs to give his head a wobble, we don't need to go all Big Sam but he can dropp off 10 or 20 years especially the way we defend space atm, he HAS to do something

The players also need to fucking get a grip, there are 3 or 4 match influencing mistakes every game, it's just not on

At least we showed some fight, that has been lacking lately but hopefully with Dias, Doku, Ake back and hopefully Kovacic and Bobb not too far away we can at least get some momentum

Title is gone, but that's ok
Yes ,the mistakes we make at the back ,either defending or passing the ball is just too much .This is so unlike the way we used to play.

Weren’t the arse 8 points ahead and then we caught them and won by 5 points? In 22/3? Or am I muddled
Something or other, however, that was with peak reinforcement at our disposal

It was a little tongue in cheek truth be told

Alas though, at every juncture like the one you alluded to, we have somehow moved the tectonic plates and found a way; maybe it’s the romanticism we’ve observed previously but, what if? (:

Put the scotch down my mrs has just ordered

On the club, Txiki etc.

Kept hold of ageing players, knew for 3 summer windows that Rodri needed help and did nothing or bought crap, and then plenty of bad buys.
Yeah, the last 2 seasons were really bad of us, hopefully we will get better times. Really hard to be a City fan, espeacially for those who are since 2008/2009.

Also I've no idea what our players were complaining about after the penalty was awarded.
You don't get a free for losing the ball weakly in that area.

Nunes was unlucky to be hooked, was one of the few who was really trying

Better than I expected. They knew that if they crowded out Foden and stayed tight to Haaland then we would have no threat. Glimpses of potential in the first half when Akanji stepped into midfield, but it only started to open up when Doku came on.

Foden has to get used to the top teams nullifying his threat.

Robertson can be got at defensively, but we gave him a free pass today.

Problem is that Gundo and Lewis give us neither attacking or defensive options at the moment and feels like Bernardo is running himself all over the shop to compensate.

But fucked if I know what the solutions are.
