Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

Salah will never be respected by anyone but Liverpool fans because of his cheating. He has been a stain on the game in my view which is sad because he is a brilliant player. VAR has escalated cheating by players because making decisions based on slow motion replays is a flawed process where every contact looks like a foul. Of course Salah is not the only one but he is the biggest diver with Martial a close second.
Not forgetting Rashford or Penandes.

Get. Back. In. Your. Fucking. Box.

Fantastic performance in injury time Rodders crowding out one of their players & Gundog just took the ball off the dip player's toes, just never stopped.

Beaker may have fucked up but that was because we'd run them into the ground and his options weren't showing.

1/16 for the Prem tells its own story, we could still blow it but the fat lady is warming her vocal cords unlike Beakers feet.

It’s actually encouraged by the system. There was opportunity for VAR to (rightly) overturn the ref’s decision. There is also an opportunity for the authorities to review the laughable footage today and charge Salah with bringing the game into disrepute.

Will it happen? Will it fcuk. He and others will be at again it next week. Because it pays.

Moreover, cheating is aided and abetted by fcukwit pundits. “ He felt contact”, “he was entitled to go down”, “I’ve seen them given” and so on.

To set an example, studios are packed with the likes of drug cheats and thugs - perfectly fine if some fcuker deems them entertaining.

Time we clamped down on some of these tits.

Only in football could a club be in the wrong for investing in their squad. All I see and hear is “oh but City have billions and billions” as if that’s an excuse. Do we have a lot of money? Yes. Do we spend it pretty well and reap the rewards? Absofuckinlutely. Tired of good ownership being frowned upon by brainwashed gimps who believe taking money out of their club = good.

Isn''t the main point that Dias should have known that Salah is a cheat and would exaggerate any contact? Dias to my mind clearly reached out and put his hand on Salah's arm but Salah's reaction was a joke that deserved a yellow card. But you don't grab at Salah in the penalty area. More to the point, there was no need for Dias to rescue the situation because that was already in hand, and if I discover from the game replay that the covering player was John Stones then that will make me feel uneasy because the two of them ought to understand each other better by now.
Not really, no. The main point is what was Dias supposed to do with his arm? If Salah is sticking his arm out and into Dias' chest then the only way Dias' can ensure that there's no contact which will allow Salah to 'exaggerate' (more commonly known as diving) is to stop running and let him have a go at goal.
Sticking your arm into someone and then throwing yourself over is the same as when players stick a leg out to initiate contact before throwing themselves to the ground. It's cheating, plain and simple. It has nothing to do with the defender doing the wrong thing, there's no right option in this situation if an attacker is creating contact and diving.

Some really great performances, all i wanted was for them to put a shift in and then see where that gets us. We struggled in the second part of the first half, but before our own sloppiness, we were well in front and dominating them. The key to begin with was Bernardo, so much hard work in tracking down and not letting them have time on the ball. Gundogan continues to take the mantel as the experienced head in midfield, he has added these deft touches and turns when in tight spaces that didn't seem to be there before, its amazing to see. All the things that people (inc me) have been saying about him lacking in the 8 position, he has added them in and now he's an absolute worldy. Brilliant, professional performance.

You see it all the time thou mate, even us. He just wasn’t very cute about it and looks a complete tit as a result.

What puzzles me how that was deemed a penalty but all the pushing and holding you see at corners are fair game then? Ok

Rodri was amazing today imo..

I, personally, have been critical of Rodri as over the last season and a little of this he's been unsure in his play and even ponderous.

However (and I don't know if it's a coincidence), with a change of system and Ferna not besides him, he's developed his own identity in that midfield and is very much a General now.

Whilst he's certainly no prime Fernandinho, I'm beginning to warm to this new 2.0 Rodri, immensely!

I hope his purple patch stays permanently.

Not having fans in the ground is making the cheating worse. The divers would be called out by a crowd.

He’s reading of the game does seem a lot better now. He isn’t chasing shadows anymore. Not sure if it’s the system or maybe just needed time to settle into the pace of our game? Whatever the reasons I’m delighted for him (and us)

Really good post, agree with everything. Just listened to Football Weekly and there were a fair few journos having to eat their words about Foden (some very seriously wanted to ship him out on loan to get kicked about in the Championship, what a bunch of jokers). The most impressive thing about Foden's development last night, but this season, is that it's like he's still serving his apprenticeship. He's still being asked to go play and different roles, in different positions, in different types of games because Pep would prefer to sacrafice short term gains for longer term development of Foden. We have a lot to thank Pep for, A LOT, but if Foden keeps working hard and grows up a bit off the field we could still be benefitting from that in 10 or 15 years time.
He has also now reached 25 goals for us in all comps at the age of 20. He doesnt want to play for anyone else so has the potential to rack up a serious goal tally for us. His goals to minutes ratio is probably the level of a lot of strikers.

Will we be hearing the excuses made for losing yesterday RE their goalkeeper gifting us two goals for why they lost? Least it freshens up their previous excuses for Mane assaulting Ederson.
A few seasons ago when they did us 4-3, Eddy made a couple of similar errors, but it was all down to their brilliant forwards putting us under pressure. This time it’s all about could have been a draw and cold feet. Okay, the latter may be tongue in cheek but it was mentioned by Tyler on commentary, their manager after the game and on motd. Funny shit.

Hate to shatter your dreams but after the goal Phil ran back towards the half way line to celebrate. Given that Eddie was probably 10 yards outside the box anyway he probably ran 30 yards hence why he was there. Great to see though and one day I hope he does run full length of the pitch to join in
I won’t be able to work all day now ,you’ve shatter my dreams

Rodri isplaying very much like Busquets. He appears to be playing deeper than before which is giving him more space to use his qualities. Gundo is the player teams are trying to press but he is too skillful for them to dispossess and start counter attacks against us.
