Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

It's one of those dream scenarios that gets posted in the pre-match thread tongue in cheek never thinking it would actually happen. Couldn't have written it any better if we tried.
He could have stopped it on the line, done a pirouette, got down on his hands and knees and headed it in. But take your point!!

In hindsight I think that if we'd played Gabby right from the start with Raz & Phil wide we would have been out of sight by HT. Thankfully it didn't matter. The way the others have stepped up to the plate since KDB got injured I honestly don't see a place for Mahrez in our first choice eleven when Kev returns. In fact, I don't see a place for him right now, but Pep seems to think differently.
I agree mate, although to be fair I initially was happy with the starting line up, mainly as I assumed that the front 3 would rotate and I didn’t want a static 9. That though didn’t happen, FFS was his usual pussy self and not doing the pressing as he should, and of course we looked a complete different animal once the switch was made.

I‘d love to know what FFS thinks when he watches Phil’s goal yesterday, as it’s exactly what he should do but doesn’t - drive at the full back at pace and put him in panic mode. On that note, it was also good to see Raz doing it more and gaining in confidence, to the point that he had Trent shitting himself by the end of the game.

Where's Dias meant to put his arm though? Salah is sticking his right arm straight out into Dias' chest, so where does Dias' left arm go? The only way to stop any contact is for Dias to run holding his left arm vertically up to avoid any and all contact. It's a cheats trick, put a part of your body near an opposition player and throw yourself over at the slightest contact.
Salah's arm wasn't pulled back at all and if the VAR ref had done his job Salah would have had a yellow for diving.
He probably should have just cleared it though but he shouldn't have to make a bad decision just because the opposition player is a massive cheat.
I agree, there is nearly any contact and Salah is only waiting for ANY contact to collapse.
I also would like an in depth analysis of refs about that situation. Live on tv.

But as the rules are now, Salah managed to go past Dias who got his hand on Salah's arm from behind without any chance to stop him or get on the ball.

If the defender finds himself in such a situation he HAS to stay away and hope for a collegue - Stones was there - or the keeper or the forward to miss the goal.

Yep, that and the Mane header their only two real chances all game. Deserved a draw my arse.

Made me laugh when Klopp said that. Came up with a load of possible excuses, none of which held any water IMO and ended with that bullshit. He's always been the same - likes to be seen as great fun & hail fellow-well-met when things are going right but clearly can't take the pressure when things are going wrong. He even had a dig at the Sky interviewer earlier on, suggesting he was mocking him with his eyes !! I've got to be fair to Our Ole over at the Swamp, when he was interviewed on MOTD after the Everton game. He must have been gutted, but didn't make any excuses and just said that these things happen in football. That's where Klopp shows his true colours - toys out of the pram even when well beaten. It really is little wonder that club is so disliked everywhere (outside of the media). Long may it last until he eventually implodes through his red & white baseball cap.

The ones I've seen mate (if this is the same) is literally just highlights from behind one camera from behind one of the goals, maybe the walkout onto the pitch, which might not be me selling it that much like but the ones I've seen (even the non city ones) have been pretty good because you can hear everything the players are saying and see the play and movement close up. Hoping we get the view from behind the goal where sterling nods it in.

I've not seen the programme advertised previously, maybe because it's only a 15 minute show they seem to just slip in between other stuff on the sneak, but if it's anything like the others it's probably worth 15 minutes of your time
It is the view from that goal :)

Yeah, me too. My thoughts at first were that it was a good line up, with a false no. 9 giving their makeshift centre backs all sorts of trouble. It didn't work out that way for the very reasons you've stated. The front line movement wasn't happening as I'd expected and only started to properly click when he went off. We look a much faster & slicker outfit without FFS and hopefully the penny may now have dropped with Pep. If he's not gonna press then he's no use to this City side. That second half formation yesterday will do for me and with Torres at the club I'd be inclined to play him as back up - at least he's an orthodox winger who will run at the full back.
